thank you bellabenbon mr cruz is to whom i was refering to you got my point and do also make it a point not to discuss religion/politics w/ anybody i'm fond of. i have my own beliefs and they too have brought me happiness it is less popular than christianity much older and my fellow followers don't fill the need to "preech" what we have come to find on or own which is what should happen w/ faith and spirituality one should make the journey to find what brings them peace and happiness ......now as for the original question posted i never saw one...........nic's faith? is not a question it could be "what is nic's faith ?'  or "who cares what nic's faith is ?" even "does nic's faith influence his movie roles?"  FREEDOM OF RELIGION IS MY SECOND FAVORITE RIGHT AS AN AMERICAN THE FIRST BEING FREEDOM OF SPEECH IF YA DON'T LIKE WHAT'S ON MY MIND THAN YA DON'T HAVE TO READ WHAT I HAVE TO SAY  KISS KISS HUG

Please see the article that I wrote for the Cagefactor Newsletter, The Mysticism of Nicolas Cage.  Go to Cagefactor and do a search for "mysticism" and it should be the first item that comes up.

Or you can try this link:

Religion and Politics tend to cause a great deal of angst in conversations.  Even between family members, let alone with perfect strangers!

I can easily see why Nic would not choose to immediately share his faith with people he meets in passing.  That could definitely feel like it's being shoved into someone's face.

But by wearing the cross he does from time to time, he can quietly share his faith if that's what he wants to do.  And if someone comments on the cross, then that's an open door to verbally share his feelings.

As for the Cameron guy, he's no where near Nic's stature in acting or in the entertainment biz so he doesn't truly run the risk of alienating a huge following of fans.

If you want to make the point that Nic should feel free to expound on his religious choices every chance he gets, then take a look at someone at his professional level who has done just that...ie Tom Cruise.

In truth, Tom Cruise has alienated so many fans and people because of his constant touting of Scientology.  He's become a laughing stock over the past couple of years and quiet possibly a leper in the entertainment community.  His star is falling fast.

A person actually turns off people if they are constantly shoving their opinions onto others...be it religion or politics.

Remember....A soft glove leaves a mark that is remembered fondly whereas a slap in the face with a hard glove turns a person away.

I don't care what religion he is so long he doesn't fill the need to shove it down our throats! (like some other celebrities )Faith and religion should not be confused, so just let us appreciate that he is a good man, a good dad, a good husband and way more important than beliefs is his actions that of a giving, humble, appreciative citizen of this world

What would be wrong with him trying to share his faith with his fans? If it has brought him some happyness, why shoulndt he try to give it to others. I know of an actor who oes this regularly. "Kirk Cameron" Look him up on IMDB.COM He also has a website>>> KirkCameron.Com

No problem.  I'm glad it satisfied, at the very least, some of your nicolas inquiries.

you know,  i agree with edit.  it really doesn't matter to me what religion nicolas is of because at the end of the day he's still the greatest actor ever! he's talented, a devoted family man, a workaholic, and a solid guy all around.  if he was of any other faith i seriously doubt that would change any of this.

I think it is very good for somebody to faith in something, and I think it is everybodies own business. Nobody has to give explanation for the religion, or whatever he follows

AOL Host: Did your own faith or spiritual values change at all as a result of this film?

Nicolas Cage: Well, I am a Christian, but, you know, I'm open to looking at other religions and learning from other religions and trying to understand what their beliefs are and their facets are, and so I'm always open to energy and spirituality. You know, I was baptized Roman Catholic, but I'm also very much interested in other beliefs.

this was from a nicolas webcast interview for windtalkers.  i actually found it on this site.

Yes, to say that he 'believes in the teachings of Christ' is vastly different than saying he 'believes on the Son of God (Jesus Christ)'.

So, I guess we still don't know what religion he puts his faith in....

O yes I know that he has never professed to be a Christian. But it was something I have never heard brought up in an interview with him before.
If you know anything about the Christian religion especially the Protestant Christian Religion it is a “belief” based religion. If you look in the Bible there is a key verse to the Christian religion & it is about "Belief".

1 John 5:13
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God( Jesus Christ); that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God (Jesus Christ). --- KJV

Remember tho, that believing in the teachings of Christ doesn't make you a Christian.  Nor does believing in the teaching of Budda make you a Buddist.  Nic has mentioned before that he tries to follow the Buddist train of thought and he also has mentioned and followed the Native American train of thought.  He has said he is open and respectful of all religions but he has NEVER stated he is a CHRISTIAN (that I can remember).
