P.S: One thing I can't understand: why when Yuri first meets Weston's chsracter in the hangar he talks to him in Russian and when he is talking about helicopters he uses English?
this is done all the time in movies the russian puts us in the setting the mood and the emotion ,it goes to english becuase most movie goers don't appreciate having to read when at the theater
Yeh Eamonn Walker....he gave such a fearful performance that it was hard to imagine him as the camp homehelp he played in "In Sickness And In Health" in the eighties!
A top notch powerful thought provoking film that, I think, improves that little bit more with each viewing.
I bought my copy of Lord of war a couple of weeks ago but have just got round to watching it!Before I bought it I didn't realise that it was going to be a special edition double disc DVD over here (England) so it was a NICe surprise to see all the extras as well as the movie.
Nic, as usual, was great in this movie and it it was lovely to see British actors Ian Holm and Eamonn Walker as major characters.
Great to see young Weston too. He's a fine young man and I hope you're proud of him dad! (of course you are!)
GO WESTON!!! Papa better look out as Wes just may give him a run for his box office money one of these days!! Somehow though, I don't see Papa having a big problem with that!! Wes sure is a cutie too!!

Ah! Finally I bought this DVD and watched the movie. I could do it long ago but I was waiting for the legal DVD (and in our country some of foreigh movies are released with a GREAT delay). But now I'm just happy The movie itself is really intreresting though knowing the plot I was expecting something more boring. I was just SO happy when I heard Nic speaking Russian. Than was so funny!! Being Russian myself sometimes I could hardly understand him (though I guess my English is as bad as Nic's Russian ) And I was glad to see that all the inscriptions in Russian were written correctly (cause i got used to permanent mistakes in Hollywood's movies). To put it briefly I liked the movie very much - it even made me proud of Russian weapon

I saw this movie! I thought it was awsome! Im really happy.. i was talking to the girl at blockbuster and we were saying how much movies seem to suck these days, then i put Lord of War on the counter and she is like.. but this one is VERY good.. i really liked it. I almost ran home to watch it!
IMO, Weston did a great job delivering the lines he had. They were not only delivered in a foreign language but they were delivered with the correct inflection and tones required of the character and scene.
Apparantly Weston not only inherited his father's eyes, but maybe, just maybe, he's inherited his father's talent as well.
Me thinks we'll be seeing more of Weston Cage (Fulton) as the years progress.
I thought that I read somewhere on the internet that Nicolas' son Weston is in this movie. Is that true? If so, I didn't see him, what role does he play? I'm not even sure if it is true. Anyone know?
Nicolas Cage nicely plays the heavy as hero, or anti-hero, or bad guy with a heart of gold-plating, in writer-director Andrew Niccol's taut thriller set in the underworld of international arms peddling. Cage plays a weapons dealer who rises to the top of the heap, struggling to take care of his own, keep ahead of the competition and outfox a tenacious Interpol agent (Ethan Hawke). The film is available in a movie-only single-disc edition or a two-disc version that includes deleted scenes, commentary by Niccol and a handful of featurettes examining the movie's production and the world of arms trading. Rated R.

LORD OF WAR (R). Nicolas Cage stars as a globe-trotting arms trafficker with a lucrative talent for looking the other way. Andrew Niccol's darkly comic drama operates with a smart mouth and with a heavy hand. With Ethan Hawke. 2:00 (strong violence, drug use, language, sexuality).
