Nicely put on, bbaqua2056! I love your comment, I think it's true as it is. I love to read these words - I can see the film in front of me. This is a really uniqe and nice performance - on both part of Donald and Charlie.
"i really don't want to see Donald die, like I don't want Meg's part to die in City of Angels. The emotion is like for someone you have known for a long time."
Perfectly true. Me, too. You use so pure words - good to read.
Carry on!

i'v just got and seen the moive. it is great, very exploratory in spiritual level, and a very good demonstration for how to covercome life confusions. The title adaptation is a duble-meaning word here: the movie is about a life story of a screen writer adapting a novel into a movie, and his different-charactered brother; it also tells a story about living creatures' adaptation, for the plant, as well as human beings. the play is a rare marvelous piece of work, and nicolas's acting is beyond the words. Pity they lost the oscar that year.
the movie begins with nicolas's monologue, backed up by a black screen. Charlie Kaufman, with a self-suspect, self-mockery, timid personality is outlined clearly from the very beginning. He is in pain, he doesn't dare to kiss, to love, he restricted himself by self-illuded others' unfavorable opinions. As for his twin brother Donald, who has a much bold character, enjoyed the life and tried his best to be himself. Firstly Charlie was occupied by the adaptation work, whereas Donald had no job but to stay in his bro's apartment. Then Donald wanted to have his own scripts, he finally worked out a successful play, as good as his brother's.
this movie is no comedy, no entertainment but a thoughtful movie, a slightly bitter tragedy when you watch it towards the end. the novelist who Charlie partially fell in love with wanted to kill him. Though a typicle degeneracy she took, it had striked me violently when she and john desperately chasing Kaufmans in the forest. That's adaptation, for her. In a way, she wasted her career and future by adapting john's style, taking drug, lying around, ignoring laws, maybe developed even worse than John himself. the biggest thing made this movie a bitter ending is Donald's accidental death at last. Before that Charlie never understood his brother, indeed he a litter despised him, thinking his bro possessed a disgraced, inattentive character other than him, thought Donald was innocent about script writing and couldn't succeed in it. When Charlie came into a working crisis and then Donald helped him all the way out, he just begun to realise there were so many interesting things in life, so man shining points lies in his bro, and finally formed the feeling of being proud to have him.
i really don't want to see Donald die, like I don't want Meg's part to die in City of Angels. The emotion is like for someone you have known for a long time. Donald's so lovely, i want to see the twins get together for their future life, discussing screenplays, having intimate chats, getting married with their girl friends, having their own childrens. But tragedy it is, it is.
One of the greatest experiences of seeing Cage's movie is that he is always willing to show the authentic things, you can be touched deeply very time and find new things in life.that's his attitude, his decided life long commitment. Being authentic is being impressive, being deeply emotionally powered, it can draws back the distance between people. The man kept that noble choice. I really like this kind of movie, which is tried to explore deep meanings and show deeper things.
I LOVED this movie! It was quirky and thought provoking. It seriously kept your head spinning the entire time you were watching it. It had obsession, love from afar, personal torment, competition, guns............It had everything. I love Charlie and Donald. Intertwine the two vary different personalities of the brothers and you get a guy I could seriously related to and love! :)

I liked it. I liked the dialog, the search for the Ghost Orchid - Meryl Streep and Nic has a twin brother. What more could a girl ask for. How did they do that?
