Nicolas Cage has a great male following, at least in the past.  I don't know very much about a male following now.  I know that a lot of women have adored him and have made it a girl thing, but I think that some intelligent men may like his films. 

I don't know it seems like now that I think about it, it seems to be mainly a girl thing.  I know the guys admire Tom Cruise a lot.  I think that Nic has work to do with his male fans.  I think that he may be too eccentric, may not like sports (or card games, from what I go on the phone from the props guy who worked with him on Wicker Man) and may be too much of a nerd or an intellectual for some. 

I like Nic because he is an intelligent actor, and because not everybody likes him.  He's not too popular in general though he is at the peak of his career.  Again!  I think he is going to think about his career and try to focus on acting and his art, and see how it is received.  He likes to go his own way and see who follows. 

Women like him because they think he is good looking.  I liked him initially because he was in Leaving Las Vegas and I saw it at a time when I was a runaway train and thought I would lose myself, after I graduated from college.  I also like his war films and I like Face Off.

I am into cultural criticism and think that Nic is "important" because of what I know about him, and what I know about Francis Ford Coppola and the Godfather movies and any nebulous links to the underworld that he may have.  I'm not an underworld type, but I have family that has worked for the Mafia--Don't tell anyone LOL! 

That's the other reason I am interested in Nic--his connection to his uncle and the movies FFC has done, like Apocalypse Now. 

I think that in the end Nic has to make better selections when it comes to the films he does.  I think he is gambling when he makes movies, to see what the monetary or the award winning outcome will be.  He also does ultimately want to be popular--he does at times need approval, stemming from experiences as a child at home and in school.

The 9/11 film will be important in general, and I hope that people will see him in a new light after it comes out. 

But also remember that he has a world of things going on in his life and a lot of people see more in him than a pretty face.  He's traveled the world and thinks his films are a world stage.  There's more to things than meets the eye...read my articles on him from past Nicinfo newsletters.  And read his biographies!!  That's why I wanted to write a book about him, to pull things together so that people would appreciate him more.  If people knew eveything about Michael or Janet Jackson they would be astonished at what they represent to other people in the world...think stars and angelology.

When you read Nic's quotes you'll find that he is a very intelligent man, having learned things from his father and his uncle.  I think we have yet to see what his life and work will mean to the world.
