Hi Elaine, I agree with Bon, no need for you to apologize to me, for sharing your thoughts. Nor me for expressing mine. Perhaps my limitation, but it made me feel really uncomfortable.

I differ from your opinion though Bon on it being the same to comment on Nic's work as his personal life...for me, that's definitely not the same. ( feel the same about anyone really not just public figures ) Nothing in this thread was a comment on his work as far as I'm aware.

Truly, I have no idea what would make Nic happy in terms of the way fans discuss him, agree that maybe he'd appreciate honesty about his work, I can imagine though anyone in the public eye would feel the same way any of us would about having their loved ones discussed? I can't say. My view is just my view.

I find it sad that anyone would assume anyone's honest opinion, about Nic's work or life, to be 'politically correct for the sake of being politically correct.' it is implying that people are being insincere about what that actually feel or think...Fortunately for me i can be entirely congruent and just say how i actually feel, because I truly have no idea what happens in Nic's personal life, not speculating or being respectful about that is not something i have to try at. And it's got nothing to do with political correctness! I would feel the same about anyone really. If it is seen as being inauthentic perhaps that's a reflection of the cynical world we live in.

Funny i was having a discussion somewhere else the other day, about how its not cool to be nice any more, and how people see it as being insincere. Seems to be relevant to what you are saying here Bon..kind of like, nice is pretending somehow? Not the case, in my case and I'm sure in the case of many others.

Hmm...Maybe we should just agree to continue to say what we genuinely think and not question the sincerity of it if it's not critical!

I really love the one of him and Alice actually, seems entirely normal they'd be together at this even! Wow, If I'd thought this thread was gonna evoke such judgement speculation and disrespect I'd never have started it, sheesh! Yeah i know this is a discussion forum, freedom of speech and all...and my attitude is to not second guess anyone's personal life and to not put negative spec out there into the world.

I saw some of Nic's speech on youtube Meg ( can't see your link! ) he was so lovely about J.B...and spoke about how he'd been a good friend...and a little about The Rock!

I'm not much of a fan of Alice myself but I have to agree/disagree with you on dif points.

I agree that when she IS at a function with Nic, she seems to plant herself smack dab next to him in every pic, almost as if to say "I'm with him!  Hands off!".   

This penchant has always made me wonder if it's because she is so young and so out of her element....Maybe she's just using him for constant support......ie.....is.....um.... needy?   Maybe it makes him feel like a Knight in Shining Armor?  Ya know.....marrying her was sorta an act of saving the Damsel in Distress kinda thing from what I've read.

On the other hand, I've noticed that she isn't at alot of the functions he attends and probably stays home with the wee one more often than not.

It's nice to hear that coz I tried really hard not to make fun of Tom's height.

Funny how one man can float my boat and the other turn me off so completely.  I've never been a Cruise fan............he's never, not even once, done a thing for me.  Now the other guy......woooo hoooo baby......10 years and my admiration and ahem.....lust....for him still stirs my loins!   LOL!
