G-Force, the guinea pig adventure featuring the voices of Nicolas Cage, Bill Nighy and Penelope Cruz, has broken the UK's 3D box office record.
The Jerry Bruckheimer animated movie took £2.44 million in its opening weekend, 72 per cent of which came from 3D cinemas, which represents the largest 3D audience share of any film to be released in the UK in both 2D and 3D.
The comedy adventure tells the story of the latest evolution of a covert government programme to train animals to work as spies.
Armed with the latest high-tech gadgets, highly trained guinea pigs - squad leader Darwin, voiced by Sam Rockwell, weapons expert Blaster, voiced by Tracy Morgan, martial arts pro Juarez (Penelope Cruz) and computer specialist Speckles (Nicolas Cage) - discover that the fate of the world is in their paws.
The audience for G-Force at the weekend was predominantly families with kids enjoying the hilarious talking guinea pigs and the mind blowing effects in the action scenes.
