RE: Happy Midsummer´s night everyone!

America is a wonderful country FULL of many cultures......but in the assimilation process, something was most definitly lost, if ya know what I mean......

Your festivals always amaze me Mara!  Truly you are blessed!

Just back home...Yeah at almost 2:30am. But tonight it´s the most magical night of the year and I couldn´t miss it... Midsummer´s solstice, a pagan tradition which later on became St. John´s Eve... It´s celebrated the world over, but especially in Mediterranean countries like mine.

Aaaah guys I feel so nostalgic tonight. I was born in the Mediterranean island of Mallorca (more or less similar to Kefalonia) and was raised in Barcelona. St. John´s Eve is MY NIGHT, you know? As the Joan Manuel Serrat poetic song dedicated to the Mediterranean goes, "My childhood is still playing on your beaches"... These ancestral waves have made me the way I am, you know? Heck, my real name means "sea"! And I`m a Pisces, LOL!

Here´s a link if you want to learn more about this feast in the Spanish shores:

Anyway, Midsummer´s night as I said gives way to many traditional celebrations in my country. And as the beach bonfires are too far away from me here in Madrid... I decided to visit the neighbourhood bonfires, which are almost equally enjoyable. Here are some pics for you to have an idea of what´s going on right now in my neighborhood. Everybody´s in the streets jumping over the flames, burning bad feelings written on little pieces of paper, singing and dancing. And making wishes for the rest of the year! The paper I burnt read: "cowardice".

If the Midsummer´s solstice is celebrated in your countries, I´d love to hear about it... Please share! This is my favorite celebration ever, it´s written on my DNA.

End of nostalgic speech, LOL!
