dearest ilia, if you can get an exchange program at this level in your schooling, it would give you an idea about life in the USA, and help you decide if you wish to stay. you absolutely can get a student visa for college. New York has some excellent film programs. your charisma will take you far! i will be able to say "i knew you when!" just do not forget us little people when you are a famous actor. my advice is to follow your dream. i think the worst fate a person can face is to have a job that they are not passionate about. i will abide by the desire to not debate 9/11, but i must add a personal, non-political note. i saw it happen on live tv coverage. it devastated this country. my brother was there, at ground zero. he saw it happen in person. i pray nothing like that happens ever again. love and peace, sweet ilia, heather

ILIA, 9/11 is a very painful subject for our American friends... the only thing that´s absolutely true about it is, we will never know what REALLY happened (the same goes for any historical event, for that matter). I´m not saying you´re right or wrong, or that I agree or disagree with you, or even that you cannot express your opinions freely here, but, you know, talking politics only gives way to controversy and can lead to an argument that can go on and on forever without getting anywhere, because we all have our own opinion and that is not going to change, whether the other person is trying to convince us with valid facts or not... The other day I made the faux pas of talking religion vs. atheism in another thread, then realised that I had made a mistake because it was rather unnecessary (so, you see, I get carried away too by these taboo subjects... what a lousy moderator, huh). Certain subjects, like religion, politics, and sports, can be a little bit dangerous in forums... and we´ve got such a friendly atmosphere here, there´s no need to spoil it. You understand, right? Thanks dear!

Ilia, it is wonderful that you have such a thirst for knowledge and travel. The United States is (I am, of course, biased) the most wonderful country in the world. We have grown so much in such a short amount of time but not without grave undertakings.
By the way......I hope I am mistaken in thinking that I read that you don't think 911 was a terrorist attack but something Bush did to his own country. It was UNDOUBTLY a terrorist attack and it took all Americans totally by surprised that we had been attacked on our own soil....much like at Pearl Harbor.......If anyone believes otherwise.....that 911 wasn't a terrorist attack, then.........they have sadly fallen into believing devious propaganda.
Ilia..........what is your age now? There are different organizations that do a student exchange program. I can probably get the names and addresses of a few of them for you but I'll need more information about you.

Oooh so there was more to it! Fight for your artistic dreams then ILIA... maybe you should enrol in the school of dramatic arts at university before making the big journey, that way you could test your abilities, and would train yourself to be fully prepared when you get to the USA, where there is so much competition in showbiz with performers from all over the world trying their luck there. Just an idea...
But see, I finished the 9nt form in school, in future only two forms then university, so I'm not a kid now!
And maybe now it is time to say my second dream! I want be an actor and I have all what actor need!So maybe my dream to go to live in USA can become really in quit little time!

I can see you made you mind long ago, and now you´re fully determined. Ok, then my advice (we grown ups give advice all the time, even if you youngsters have not asked for it... what a bummer, huh?), well my advice is, wait until you´ve finished your studies (you´re a bit too young right now dear ILIA), and then... try your luck in the land of your dreams! Hard workers are welcome anywhere in the world because they contribute to any country´s richness. So, work hard building your future my friend. And STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF, that´s the only luggage you must carry with you from one country to the next.

mara maybe you are right, but I think about it for a two years, from that year when I become Nic fan, I think about America and only one thing stop me it is tragedy of 11 September 2001, I watched many docimental films and in conclusion I understand that it was not a terract it was clearly planned undermining of buildings, all conducted at a much, any doubt that this was someone above (I mean U.S. policy, namely George Bush and all people who was near him in the past)
But even that does not stop me thinking that this is a wonderful country!
As for the expense of my country, I guess I will never love her, it maybe sounds hard, but it's a fact!

Dear ILIA, I wish you best of luck with your dreams... but maybe when you grow older you´ll find out that you actually miss very much the country where you were born and raised, because it´s part of you deep down, and you cannot deny your nature. And that´s a lovely contradiction of sorts. Having said that, there´s nothing more enriching than travelling the world and getting to spend some time in different contries... You´re a very brave young man for daring to experience the adventure of making a living far from your native land. Good for you!
I can fully understand you because I didn´t take the plunge to go live abroad when I was young, and now I´ll have to wait until I retire to do so, LOL! I love my country with all my heart, but I chose very early on to be a citizen of the world, so I don´t intend to get old here, you know? I´ll be probably spending the last years of my life immigrating from one country to another, without really settling anywhere, until health fails me.
In my experience, all places are equally hospitable when you first arrive, and equally inhospitable when you have spent some years there... borrowing from Proust, the only paradise is paradise lost.

I really want to, at least visit the United States, I know the history of this country, I know the language of this country, but ... I was not born in it, I watch TV every day and I see it as American politicians making, so that all their citizens to live well, that's not long ago, I saw how they decided to cut Manhattan and any could come to lie on headlong and lie down there, so to Recently they have done in New York from an abandoned subway station, beautiful garden, set there benches, planted flowers, well, does not this wonderful??
If you know, as well as the browser you use Google you will see this thing as Google Earth, where today I found addition allows a panoramic view outside: any street throughout the country USA! And when I looked, I just could not keep, I so want to get there, not to mention the life there!
I'm not saying that the United States - that is all that is now only one such country, and everything else bad, NO! But .. Ukraine is probably the most terrible country in the world, not counting the abandoned countries in Africa, even though there is Egypt, the UAE, and the seemingly poor continent and tourism business as it grows, and what beautiful castles there, what hotels, and they build an island!
I love Australia , where I would like to hold my old age and the last years of my life!
All people who live in the United States or another country, if you know of any exchange program, as well, or even something like that, I ask you, say about them to me!
