Oh I´d love to learn more about your Eastern ancestral ways.. its´a pity that they´ve been assimilated to the predominant culture, but then most every other culture has been globalised nowadays, including mine...
What Eastern books do you recommend Gerfalcon?

LOL... yeah, Nicaholic DOES have some GREAT side effects!!
Well, about the Eastern culture, I think you can start with some translated literary works instead of movies... cuz IMHO, it's the best kind of art in our culture!!
(If you'd like me to introduce more about our culture, I might be not able to do so cuz you know, the world has long been Westernized so that Eastern culture seems to be mysterious... and sometimes we don't know how to explain it in a proper way to let you understand. Still, there's a lot worth learning...)

That´s great Gerfalcon! I gotta say that for me, Nis has been my best English phonetics teacher EVER... Nicaholism has some surprising side-effects right?
BTW I´d love to know more of the Eastern culture too...
Well, I know more about the religion images in BOTD cuz it's obvious, and actually the last scene is my favorite one in the whole film... but I forget about the church images in Windtalkers, thanks for sharing the great reviews on it, Mara!! :)
I think that one of the advantages (and probably the most important one) my "Nicaholic" symdrome brings to me is to have a better chance to understand the Western culture...

That was something, wasn´t it? The guy who runs this site is very creative indeed.
Another movie of Nic´s which is deeply into Christian imagery and symbolism is Bringing Out the Dead. "Frank" Pierce behaves like a true fransiscan, his platonic love is called "Mary", his ambulance partners are like the three thieves, there´s a resurrection, he seeks redemption from guilt and is overwhelmed by compassion but his ego and the pride he takes in saving people is overflowing his good intentions etc. etc. etc. Oh, and don´t forget the Pietà-like image at the last scene, when Frank is leaning his head on Mary´s bossom, where he finally finds some rest and solace to his never-ending spiritual quest.
Unfortunately I didn´t find it reviewed on this site (movie is maybe too hardcore coz it kinda advocates euthanasia?), but I did find a reiligious review on Windtalkers, which is a more obvious choice. (Note: for some reason the text is black and you cannot read it unless you highlight the whole page) Enjoy: http://www.hollywoodjesus.com/windtalkers.htm
And of course they could not let behind Nic´s latest, KNOWING, which can be also interpreted under a religious light on demand (for me is rather more of a philosophical movie, but that´s just me). Read their thoughts on that one here (warning: possible spoilers):
Very creative one! I've never paid attention to the religious images before... and how the relationship between Sean's family members has changed through the film!! Thanks for who does the summary and Mara's sharing, I think I'll watch it again soon...
