Absoulutely wonderful article! Whoever wrote it should be on this site sharing their heartfelt views on our man. She/He would fit right in!
You know what I am always pleasantly pleased about? The fact that the quirky actor we all love and adore is loved and adored by intelligence...........Meaning I doubt that any of us hanging around here is drawn to Nic solely because of his looks (as handsome as he is) but because of his mind and how he views the world and what he puts into his characters.
It's what makes him 'tick' that turns us on.................

yeah, that must be it mara! to be light, dark playful, deep, funny, serious, whatever.... the freedom to be abstract, or cubist(!) or realist, or whatever you want. Unfortunately most audiences want the latter...
I'm trying to remember the lines in Moonstruck about the Marc Chagall painting hanging in the stairwell when Ronny and Loretta visit the opera....
Ronny: This was painted by Marc Chagall and as you can see he was a great artist
Loretta: Its a little gaudy don't you think?
Ronny: Well he was having some fun (something like that)

I had never heard about this "art synthesis" thing, but Iīm taking a wild guess here: could it be the influence of all art forms and every art style into your own artistic voice? Nic is know to draw inspiration from ecclectic sources, from comic books to modern paitings to classical music to sculpture to silent movies... you name it.

Great find mara she, or indeed he, has got it bad!
Some lovely observations there, "different genres, different favorites" resonates like a singing bowl with me! I absolutely find it impossible to name favourites, you may have noticed I've avoided the what are you fave Nic films kind of discussions, because I just cannot do it! The author of this piece has put it in a nutshell! Or should I say a Nic nutshell!
I'd love to hear more about the "art synthesis" style the writer refers to, is this another way of saying non realism, jazz, surreal alongside realism and playing around in the different modes of self expression? Which Nic is the master of and why in my opinion some people don't get him at all?
