RE: Which Movie Did Nick Did An Commentary On DVD Along With The Director?

I heard Nic say somewhere that he doesn't like to do commentary on his films because he feels like he is giving away movie secrets.

Hi all again,
Oh, so there's a special MGM version to Valley Girl after-all. Gee I don't have that version either. Thanks, for all your answers but I'm still trying to locate the one I'm talking about. I got the film from Netflix.com site and maybe they have a special version too. The one I'm talking about has a man director but don't recall his name and Nic only on it. Maybe it's one film I don't have yet on DVD I'm buying. So I'm going to put in the films I don't have on him again from Netflix. Wish I thought about recording it but then the film may not be able to record on it for protector's copy rights on it. I would have recorded that for sure when I had it before. I too love all the extras on DVD movies of Nick's. Especially, the ones he has interviews on them. When he's talking about his characters or about the film it's so cool. I even love all the out-takes too on some. I love the ones from Family Man I have. So funny.
In the way, I wish that Nick did all the Commentary on all his films. That will be a fans dream for sure. I like to hear his take on his older films now when he's older and how he feels when he did the film. It will be interesting to hear.

You're a woman much like me, it seems.  I loathe crowds while shopping.  And I'm not exactly the queen bee of shoppers either.  I tend to have expensive taste so I simply try to stay AWAY from stores.  Why put myself thru all that temptation?

Yes it´s a separate interview, very cool BTW... Nic is dressed in electric green... their conversation was taped at Depp´s Viper Room, featured in the movie. Marta Coolidge later on does the voice commentary of the movie alone.

Okay....this must be what I've been thinking of.......I KNEW I had seen a commentary with Coolidge and Nic discussing Valley Girl......Here is a description from IMDB.com

Valley Girl: In Conversation - Nicolas Cage and Martha Coolidge (2003

This extra is just what the name implies, a conversation between actor Nick Cage and Director, Marta Coolide. They just sit across from each other and just reminisce about things that happened during the making of Valley Girl. They seem like old friends who're just having a chat and chatting about old times.  This 20 minute short featurette can be found as an extra on MGM's special edition DVD of "Valley Girl"

My copy of Valley Girl doesn't have Nic's commentary on it, just Martha Coolidge's. My copy of Red Rock West only has the director's commentary - brothers John and Rick Dahl. If he really has put out a commentary on Valley Girl I would sure like to have a copy.

Hey Nan!

It came to me after reading your post that the reason you are having trouble locating what you are seeking is that often there has been a 'special' release of a video or DVD that features extras and you might not be getting your hands on the special version!

This has to be the case with the Valley Girl movie because I can still  'see'  (in my minds eye) the documentary conversation that Nic and Martha Coolidge, the director of Valley Girl, had together to discuss Valley Girl.

I so hope you can find what you are looking for.

Personally, I love the extra's at the end of movies almost as much as the movies themselves because they take you 'behind the scenes' into not only the production of a film, but also into the minds of those who made the film happen.

Good luck!

Hi All,
I since watched Valley Girl on DVD and Nick did not do the commentary on it only the director which was a woman. Forgot her name right now. The Rock had no special features on the DVD that I have. I will check out Red Rock West once I buy it. It's on hold for me at an grocery store I go to often. Have to check out Vampire Kiss and Sonny as I don't have those yet. Thanks, for all your answers. I had not come across the movie I seen from Netflix I had. Maybe I put in some of Nick's films again to see if I can find it again.

Thanks to all for your answers. I have Valley Girl but had not watched the DVD version yet. I have it on video. The Rock I have too but as to the others, Vampire Kiss, Sonny and Windtalkers I don't have yet. I thought Red Rock West was the one I thought he did but not sure now. Maybe it was the Rock that I seen from Netflix. I do recall that the one I'm remembering was with only Nick and the Director was doing the Commentary. Anyway, I will find it. As I have many or all of his films on DVD now and soon. There are a few movies I don't like of his mainly for the story line or the theme I'm not into at all. Like The Wicker Man. I seen the film but don't like the ending at all. I'm not into Horror films or films of types like that at all. Still Nick does many good films and I'm enjoying them very much.

I think that Nic taped a commentary for The Rock along with Michael Bay and other actors, but I don´t own this particular edition.

He did a commentary for the Windtalkers DVD with Christian Slater, but John Woo taped his commentary in a separate track, so that must not be the one you´re looking for Nan7nic....

I think Nic has done commentaries on several of his DVD's.  The one that stands out to me was the VALLEY GIRL commentary he did with the director.   :)

Hi,
I'm collection many Nicolas Cage films on DVD and so far I had not find the one DVD with an extra section that has Nick did an Commentary on one of his films.  Does any body know which film I'm refering to?  I rented it one time on Netflix films and forgot the title of the film now.  Can some one let me know which movie it was?  Thank-you.
Nancy
