Can I just say... I LOVE THE WORD "DIDDLYWINKS!"  That word for some strange reason brings me joy!confuse   If you have other words like that - please feel free to share!  I'M LOVIN' IT!!!

As for your "2cents"... very heart felt, appreciated and sincere...

Well, here goes with my own 2cents....

I'm sure that Nic, in his position, would be the kind of man who would want to spread his 'blessings' around to those he loves.

BUT....and this is a BIG BUT......it's a very different thing to give from the heart willingly vs being EXPECTED to give.  That's where the stress factor of having the kind of money Nic has comes in.

It's a fine line he walks in this area as does anyone who has 'more' than others in their family or circle of friends.

There can be a balance but it's up to Nic to set the limits of his largesse.  It can cause major problems in family and friendships alike.

Anyone who expects Nic to hand out MONEY to them should be set straight.  If Nic's in the mood to hand out money, fine, that's wonderfully generous of him.........but if not.....then tough diddlywinks.

Anyone  who asks for money should be given one hell of a talking too.

The people who love him the most and who have his best interests at heart would really only want to be with him, in his company, have heart to heart chats with him, feel appreciated by him and once in a while maybe be given a token of love and friendship as they would, I'm sure, want to do the same for him, in loving reciprocation.

Like he's only wanted for what he has?  Is?  Can give?   His power?  His position?

Have you ever stopped and wondered... Nic could be dealing with that right now?!  The number one question critics in the entertainment world are asking:  Nic just this year, said he's tired of acting - it doesn't excite him anymore.. Heck, he even hinted of retiring and yet, he goes off and makes a ton of movies - filiming 3-4 movies in one year AND, has more to come!

Is he doing it to maintain his lifestyle?  Or, to maintain others? Does he know people around him need and want things from him?  You never really see  him hanging out with high-powered executives or billionaires that can "do" for him - which makes you wonder - does Nic have to carry it all on his shoulders?  Alice and her family?  Weston and Kristina Fulton?  Ka-El?  People in his employ?  Friends?  His brothers?  Extended family?  Is that why he's been looking so drained?

Just this chick's unworthy two cents wink.

I love that movie! After all, the subject matter is about our wildest phantasies right?

I don´t doubt for one minute that Nic must have felt used by many people who´ve approached him over the years and that surely has led him to some degree of mistrust and isolation. On the other hand, for people meeting him on a personal level it must be also difficult to deal with the circus he´s constantly surrounded by. I know I personally could never get used to it.

So....okay.....Tonight I spent the evening vegging in front of the TV and watching Notting Hill........(synopsis from IMDB at end of post) and there is a scene in it where the famous movie star Anna Scott (played by Julia Roberts) spends the night with the shopkeeper Will (Hugh Grant) and in the morning says this to him...

Anna Scott
: Rita Hayworth used to say, "They (meaning men) go to bed with Gilda; they wake up with me."
William: Who's Gilda?
Anna Scott: Her most famous part. Men went to bed with the dream; they didn't like it when they would wake up with the reality. Do you feel that way?

So my questions then are these.....

Does anyone ever wonder if a man in Nic's position has felt the same?   Like he's only wanted for what he has?  Is?  Can give?   His power?  His position?

What do you think this does to people?

Can't be easy any being on either side of the fence....

BTW....the scene ends with Anna walking out on the shopkeeper and the song "Ain't no Sunshine When She's Gone" playing in the background....Great song.

Movie Synopsis
......Every man's dream comes true for William Thacker, a successless Notting Hill bookstore owner, when Anna Scott, the world's most beautiful woman and best-liked actress, enters his shop. A little later, he still can't believe it himself, William runs into her again - this time spilling orange juice over her. Anna accepts his offer to change in his nearby apartment, and thanks him with a kiss, which seems to surprise her even more than him. Eventually, Anna and William get to know each other better over the months, but being together with the world's most wanted woman is not easy - neither around your closest friends, nor in front of the all-devouring press.
