RE: NYC apartment for sale....listing with pics

hey bonnie, how you could be boring?

I was only a sporadic visitor of the forum, but I saw that you are woman of poems, literature, art, invention., and I saw your kids on photo, many weeks ago, so as a mother - you have "know how" ´to make fan for your kids and I have to conclude that you, and mara, and other people there, - our princes Only NIc and our young ILIA, all of you there, I fell sometimes as i knew you many years, this is something like spiritual fusion or something like this. The our interest  - our man - is the force which keep us together at the forum.

OK. You ARE NOT BORING. comma

Glad all of you enjoyed my long winded answer.   LOL!

Truthfully, only Nic and his accountant probably know why he seems to be liquidating his real estate holdings.

Maybe it's as simple as he wants to pile all the cash into one big room and then jump into it like a pile of leaves!   If anyone deserves having fun with all the money he's made, it's Nic!

Oh and Thanks Jenn for saying I'm not boring.  Sometimes I think to myself, I'm simply full of HOT air!   ;)

hey PITA B,

thank you for such a long answer, I am impressed. My openion is similar to Tracy´s.But No 4 is interesting too. LOL.
I agree with your talk about the money, money do not make pepole happy, can only transiently cover their needs, wishes and so on. And thats true, if you have a lot of money, you can´t trust anyone.
I believe that NIC and Obama could find the best way, what to do withe teir moneys (nic with his moneys/ and Obama with all of YOURS moneys.
Once more thanks for answer, and I do not think you are boring. Do not affraid.

Hi Pita:

Realistically, I think your #3 answer is probably the closest to what I'm hearing. Nic is no longer a $20 million dollar man (except in the case of the National Treasure movies) so there is no way he can afford to maintain all of his luxury properties, jet, yacht, etc.  The outcome is I believe way more than the income.  It's simply way to expensive right now.

Still, he's smart, he knows when to let go and move on.  Most people would rather file bankruptcy or continue to manuever themselves into further debt. Nic surrounds himself around smart people who I'm sure have advised him on how to consolidate and still maintain a customary lifestyle.

Nic has been quoted as saying, the one problem he has about money is, as soon as he gets it is as soon as he spends it!     smile

It's true.  Too much money is a hindrance in many ways.

People want you for all the wrong reasons and you can't trust anyone.

Living in a bubble of money makes the majority of people cease to see the common man around them and and what they are going thru so you cease to relate to people properly at that point.  Life becomes all about YOU.

Really rich people are also surrounded by things and people who are there to suit their every whim at the snap of a finger and that is only detrimental to a human as it makes you become quite grandiose in your thinking process.

The truth is, being outlandishly spoiled has never benefited anyone.   It makes Prima Donna's out of the most grounded people.

Money doesn't bring happiness, pure and simple.  It brings problems and possessions.

Great answer Bonnie... I wish Nic´s main motivation was #5.... or #2... But my "rational approach" if I ever got one is, it´s all probably about #1...

Too much money can make you really uneasy.

Hi Jenn.......so I come across to people as being rational, eh?  Sounds quite boring actually!  LOL!   No, seriously, I am rather analytical, rational and logical.

Except in matters of the heart.   :)

To answer your question.....why do I think Nic is selling off his properties and such?   Well.....I think it could be for many different reasons.

1.  Nic is a savvy business man worth millions and millions.  Now that Obama will be President, he is well aware that once Obama gets his laws passed of taking from the rich to give to the poor, he will be hit with MAJOR cap gains taxes on his properties if he sells them and makes any profit off of them.   If he wants to hold onto his money and continue to have it grow, he needs to figure out other ways to do it than in buying and selling properties.

2.  It could be that Nic has gotten tired of the jet setting lifestyle he lives and no longer wants to flit from house to house or island to island.  Maybe he wants to finally settle down and put down some real roots in his life.  It has to really get to ya after a while to live out of a suitcase and to not have a place to call HOME.  Also, I'm sure that Nic is conscious of the fact that little Kal shouldn't be yanked from place to place once he is of age to start school.  He, especially...... needs to be able to live a life where he can socialize with other kids, make good friends, join clubs and sports, and sleep in the same bed at night.  Kids need structure and they need to be allowed to put down their own roots in order to develop properly.

3.  Perhaps Nic has come to a point where he realizes that possessions don't make a person happy.  That the more stuff you have in your life, the more pressure you have to maintain it.  Every house he owns has to take major money to keep it in shape, to pay taxes on it and such.  He has to continually bring tons of money in JUST to maintain all the possessions he owns.  That's insanity if you want to be able to sit back and enjoy life at any point.  Nic isn't getting any younger.  If he wants to enjoy the fruits of his past endeavors, he'd better start doing it soon.

4.  Another reason he might be unloading all of his properties is to liquidate his assests in the event of a divorce.  Not to say that this is gonna happen but couples often have to split things up.  The easiest way to do such a thing is to convert joint properties to cash and walk away with your fair share.  I'm sure that Nic and Alice have a prenup in place so seriously....I don't think THIS is the reason Nic is selling off his properties.  It's just a possible reason.

5.  Lastly, and what would be most altruistically......is maybe Nic has decided to cash in his assets in order to do something for others.  Maybe start some sort of foundation to benefit children or the homeless or the mentally ill or whatever.  Sort of become the next Paul Newman....

Anyhooo......I hope I've answered your question.

The one property I hope Nic never sells off is his Midford Castle.  That one place seems to have it all.  It's got tons of land, ambience, privacy, and isn't far from a bustling city.  Of course, it would be a big strange for Kal to invite kids to come over to play at his castle.....so.......maybe Midford Castle could be Nic's vacation home?

Now....WHY do you think Nic might be selling off his properties?

OK, hello Pita B,

what is your opinion, why is NIC selling his properties, yacht, and so?
Maybe he ´d like to be more domestic to reseat to one plase and stay there for longer time, but I think it is not for him, maybe he ´d like to sell everything and offer the money for poor people, or just to spent the money by excessive shopping? maybe he is affraid of economic crisis or what? LOL

I ´d be really interesting in your answer, cause I think, that you are clearly woman with rational approach.
Jenn

The man really does have exquisite taste, although not very 'homey'.    Apparently this is/was his New York City apartment, which is said to be on the market.
