As you grow older, you´ll be surprised how much your views and opinions change about things. Sometimes the same movie seen 20 years later feels like a totally different experience... Good works of art are subject to so many interpretations anyway...
If you get the chance, you should see the original movie COA is based on, the German film "Wings of Desire" or "Der Himmel über Berlin". It´s even more poetical and philosophical, so to say, than the Nic version.
Thank you, ladies! :) I just write down what occured to me after finishing the movie, and I'm surprised that you agree with my humble opinion.
When I was a child, I'd only pay attention to things such as how handsome/beautiful the actors/actresses are, or how exciting the films are(I used to be a lover of action films) while see the movies. As time passed by, I started to try to learn something from them, and I often learned more than I originally thought I'd learn. I find that movies aren't just a form of art, they can also teach us the knowledge we can't learn from textbooks sometimes...... maybe I've grown much compared to my childhood, so I can appreciate things more precisely!!
Only Nic......I think you summed up the movie CITY OF ANGELS perfectly! It's my favorite Nic movie as it not only made me aware of the amazing man himself but it had so many spiritual lessons in it to be learned.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on COA! I´m under the impression that what you perceived as the main theme of the movie is precisely what the filmmakers had in mind when they shot it... to make us appreciate living our lives moment by moment, paying attention and not going through the motions... Maybe we should all "fall" from our preconceived notions and try new starts like Seth...
Um, I'm not trying to give comments about the movie too much in this post, that's why I won't post in Reviews. Just want to share some personal feeling about it.
It's indeed a romantic and touching love story, but I think I see more than that.
Why Seth the angel wants to fall? Besides falling in love with Maggie, he'd like to "feel" how everything feels on the earth. That shows there are still many wonderful things in the world worth our appreciating, aren't there? Or why would an angel want to give up forever to experience these?
What if, one day, we losed our senses like the angels? We might never have worries, but at the same time, we could never imagine what happiness is like.
Therefore, after seeing this movie today, I think I'll be more grateful for everything in life, whether it's good or bad one...... it's lucky to be a human being!!
