I don't know if Nic is the only big 'star' to NOT acknowledge the devotion of his fans and their efforts or if all big stars are this way.

The thing is that.......if they personally did acknowledge the little people....they'd sure be alot more popular to the public and in the case of Nic..... with all the negativity that is directed his way.....being gracious to his fans/fan clubs sure couldn't hurt and might even help to negate the negativity.

Then again......maybe celebrities begin to believe all the PR bull they are fed by their 'YES Men" and then they develope huge ego monsters and then think it's beneath them to acknowledge others.

Sad to think that way really.......but.......it's a possibility.

Some clarification here.......Some Toncas members 'invested' personally in the SHADOW OF A VAMPIRE flick.....not Toncas as a group effort.

But....in the case of the ad to congratulate Nic on receiving the American Cinemateque Award.....that was placed in a special edition of the Hollywood Reproter magazine.......then YES......it was a group effort from Toncas.  Rhonda is the one who came up with the idea but members sent their contributions  to me and I placed the $500 ad.   Sadly, neither Nic nor any of his representatives acknowledged the ad.

I had no idea about that, Bonnie... that TONCAS actually invested in the movie.... How does it feel to have your name on letters that big in the showbiz, huh?

Seriously here: I hope Nic gets to appreciate the loving effort you make both with this and with the ad you published about him in The Hollywood Reporter (was it? Or was it Vanity Fair?).

Gads.....you can tell how long I've been a die-hard Nic fan......When Nic was producing this.....his first producing gig......there was some sort of opportunity for people to invest in the project.  I was a Toncas member way back then and several of us from Toncas decided to 'invest' in the project to show support for Nic.   In exchange for an 'investment'......we all got the Shadow of a Vampire Press Kit and a poster (mine hangs in our rec room) from the flick.  We also got to have our named listed at the very end of the DVD......the names go quickly....but you should be able to catch my name as well as another original Toncas member Beth Eursin (Ursin).

God................it's been a long time.............eh?  Talk about loyalty.....LOL!

BTW..............Shadow of a Vampire is an awesome movie.  Superbly made, fantastically acted.   If anyone here has not seen it, I would highly suggested trying to catch it one of these days.

Yes Kate, you got it perfectly right. This is the first movie he produced, and a very good debut as a producer it was... Nearly won Willem Dafoe an oscar, (he was nominated).

Hi Elizar, and welcome to the forum!

So you share a passion with Nic... you both love vampires to death (pun intended). Nosferatu makes me shudder, go figure! This guy Max Schreck looks totally horrifying in the role, he undoubtedly was a wonderful actor... or maybe something else, who knows *wink*

This movie (Nicīs first as a producer) was released in 2000. Itīs a morbid curiosity and very much a work of love. Willem Dafoe is one of my faves... Heīs top notch on this one. No wonder he was up for an oscar nomination.

Thanks ElizarS for uploading this...
