Yes, Ilia, really a terrible day. You're perfectly right.
Mara I'm sorry it was a shock for you too. When the film WTC came out I didn't have the courage to see it and still don't. My heart really and physically aches when I see people die, especially young people. I can't bear so much pain. but I'm glad it helped you a little to overcome the tragedy. It's important to have someone or something (a film, a song, a poem, a friend ... a forum) that can be downer for us. I think that Nic's movies helped some of us in a way or another like The City of Angels helped me.
Thank you for the trailer. Someday I'll find the courage to see the whole film.
The tears I shed that day were my last as a naive girl. My disenchanted entrance into adulthood has a date and an hour... I was working for an online stock broker at the time and lost many American colleagues I used to talk with over the phone. We had access to terrifying inside info which didn´t tell the difference between the actual facts and the wildest rumours. I could hear the Spanish army helicopters and saw the tanks that inmediately rushed to protect and guard the nearby US Embassy. It was a nightmare. I had this sinking feeling of absurdity, nothing made any sense at all. Seven years have passed me by but I´ve got the scar of defenselessness, aggravated by later events.
Sorry if this post is a downer. I guess I´m still a tiny bit traumatized by 9/11. Nic´s movie helped me a little to overcome it though. I´m grateful to him for helping me see the goodness behind sheer terror: in this situations a bunch of heroes always make us keep our faith in mankind intact, right?
Thank you, Lula! I'd like to remember this day, too. I woke up this morning and I was thinking about this day and all the victims of this awful tragedy. I think there is no religion that can justify those victims and all that sorrow. I'm close to all the families and friends of the people who died.
Yes, Bonnie, we mustn't forget and must learn from these tragedies to promote respect and peace among all the populations of the world. With love.
Thank you, Lula, for remembering such a tragic time in history and for sendng out healing thoughts. We must never forget that day and always hold it close in our hearts.
