I saw NT2 before NT1. The first part is da best of course. And I realized that they were just the same. Ben Gates had to prove that his family was clear by finding treasure. He and Abigail had a fight, but then they worked together. Ben stole something from goverment and was wanted by cops. Riley helped Ben with his hacking skills bla bla bla.......
Even they were the same (just different bad guys, treasure, riddles and locations) but they all blew me away! Now I can't wait for the 3rd and I heard about the 4th few months ago. WOW!!

You made alot of good and fair points about National Treasure 1. I enjoyed the second installment almost as much as the first but I did find myself thinking it was all just alittle to 'pat'. I am sincerely hoping that the third installment will be one where we are not asked to suspend our beliefs but are drawn into a real plot that makes us have to think, much like an Agatha Christie novel.

I just got done with NT1. It was an enjoyable film. I really dont know why there aren't more films which appear to a wide age range such as this nowadays. It seems more and more films target adults OR children-rarely making something that can genuinely appeal to both. This film was quite intelligent and stimulating in places but also fun and light hearted. The main problem I had was you had to suspend your disbelief WAY too much. This was most evident in the Sean Bean related parts with things happening at the same times and seeming TOO illogical. Still, the story was a real ride with enough twists and turns to keep it fun. I just thought some of the writing was lazy because they probably knew their audience wouldn't mind so long as it was FUN, but with more time they could have made something fun and something more at the same time. It felt a bit like a mixture of Indiana Jones, The Fugitive and The Mummy-those types of films that adults and kids dig and dug. If this one had a bit more of a serious touch and a slightly less ridiculous script perhaps it could have been up there.
Great film, could have been more.
Cage was good. Not a very daring choice though. It never ceases to amaze me how Cage plays it safe as much as he takes risks. There is something interesting about THAT too though, I guess.
I'm with you Keeper. The first NT was the best by far. They have announced there will be a third NT and that it will possibly be based in New Orleans. I'm hoping they give it a little more edge....not be so 'proper' so to speak.
What's most important is the plot. This one has to seriously GRIP the viewer if they want to be able to continue the series......
And all of this....is just my opinion of course!

i really thought the first one was quite fun... like a more rockin adventure version of da vinci code... the 2nd one i think they went a bit TOO light hearted... while some of it worked other parts just felt kinda too far in the campy direction (also that ed harris bad guy just couldn't compare to sean bean) ... i'd be surprized if there was a 3rd! but i'd be willing to give it a go!
I had seen Con Air, and the Rock, not knowing it was Nicolas Cage in them...then when I saw National Treasure 1 I fell in love...and then #2 made my obsession came back! Anyway....I love these movies with a passion. They are clever, and they make you think! I love the friendship between the trio! Ben is histerical in the second one in the scene where he argues with Abby at Buckingham palace. lol. There is going to be a 3rd one in 2010! I cannot wait that long :'( but I guess we'll have to wait anyway! And I also heard there is going to be a 4th?
