I wrote the topic because I was quite upset after watching Cage's latest movie Ghost Rider, which is much below my expectation. I don't mean to disrespect Cage or hurt any of his fans (because i'm also one of them...lol). Probably, it's not because of Cage, it's because of me! Am i getting more difficult (my standard becomes higher) as I'm aging? Anyway, one obvious thing I want to say is Cage preference has changed pretty much as he decided to appear in more 'COMMERCIAL' shows like Ghost Rider, National Treasure and its coming sequel. To me, those types of movies are not too bad, in fact they are very entertaining! However, they don't need the acting intensity which is a distinctive characteristic of Cage role. Anyway, it's just my opinion, don't take it too hard! Cheers to all Cage's fans around!
Welcome Acting Criminal! Sorry I dont think the way you do. I must say that Adaptation is one of his geatest movies. He did two different characters at the same time wondrously, and WTC is a movie done with the most respect and kindness to the people involved in that horrible day. Ok Wicker...wasnt very good, but Ghost was good, it was a good comic movie. It was very well done and acted. We are all humans and as you say - crappy projects- we all make mistakes in our life. No ones perfect.
Acting_criminal wrote:Why has he undertaken some crappy projects recently such as Ghost rider, The wicker man, World Trade Center, Adaptation? I think all the mentioned shows would had been worthless if they hadn't have him in. The plots are ****ty and there are not much substances in them.
Hi Acting Criminal! I understand what you wrote but i dont understand why you wrote. I havent seen The Wicker Man and Adaptation yet, but I think World Trade Centre and Ghost Rider wasnt bad at all! OK, ok, they wasnt as good as they were advertised but I liked them. Do you think Windtalkers, CCM, Gone in 60s, 8mm and Con air were better ones? As far as im concerned i give right to you, but i dont change my mind that Nic will be more attractive and sexier with age... OK, it doesnt influence the career of a person - sweet little lies - but in my opinion he isnt on the downward slope of his career at all!!! In my opinion he got the money which he want and he's never done it for the money to buy things or islands- hes always worked for us, for himself and not for just the tax. I mean maybe he want to express himself in another kind of genre and sometimes it doesnt works fast to understand why. He doesnt want to be kept in a CAGE and want to break free..lol This is just only my opinion - i dont want to hurt anybody

I'm new in this forum and i'm from Vietnam. Having watched almost all of Nicolas Cage movies, i have myself a concern regards his decisions of appearing in several 'not-so-great' flicks. Don't misunderstand me, Cage is my favorite actor and he has been always great. However, my question is: Why has he undertaken some crappy projects recently such as Ghost rider, The wicker man, World Trade Center, Adaptation? I think all the mentioned shows would had been worthless if they hadn't have him in. The plots are ****ty and there are not much substances in them. However, he could only save the shows to some extends and; unsurprisingly, all his great acting can do was to turn some rubbish movies to ok-to-watch ones! Is this the downward slope of his career after the peak period from mid 90s to 2002 with great movies like Windtakers, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, The family man, Gone in 60s, 8mm, Face off, Con air....? Or he is in the need for money to invest in property projects (buying the resort islands)? I don't know... I would be greatful if someboby can tell me why!
