Nic was excellent as Joe Enders. I found it very interesting to learn about the Navajo involvement in World War II. And yes, Nic looked gorgeous too!! Yummy indeed! I haven't seen the Keitel version of Bad Lieutenant, that'll be on my 'to watch' list!
Okay......so now that I've finished watching Keitel's BAD LIEUTENANT on cable TV, I've put on WINDTALKERS. What can I say.....The cable gods are with me tonight.
And just in the first half hour of watching WINDTALKERS, I'm struck by not only what a fantastic job (and unjustly looked over job) Nic did portraying Joe Enders, but also what a buff babe the man is in this flick.
Yummy! ;)

I saw Windtalkers for the first time last night and just three of the words I would use to describe it are:
Confronting Gritty harrowing
*Spoilers*
The story it tells is so believable of the horrors of war. Yes it may be historically inaccurate and is graphic but not gratuitously so. This is a story about humanity and what is shown to the viewer is essential to their education. The emotional journey depicted by the main characters is superb. We feel Private Ben Yazee's initial terror at killing another human being, yet we grow with him as he grows as a soldier as he finally accepts the horrific yet true realism in that terrible statement "Ours is not to reason why, our is to do or die". We cry inside when having commited such an act of bravery he is seen as just "the indian" and accepts this with the honor of his heritage. We also feel Joe Enders' growing love and respect for the man he is entrusted with to "do his duty", his emotional turmoil eventually bringing him onto the brink of insanity. My favourite part is when Joe sees the look on Yazee's face - the look of a soldier not a man, who has finally accepted that being a man is futile in the battlefield of war, the very face that exactly mirrored his own, earlier in the film. Nic and all the cast are wonderful in this movie, but I can truly say that it is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Magnificent cast, direction and story.
I love that movie, its one of my favourites, Put the bunny back on the box!!! heehee, Ive never understood how he finds it in the middle of that caos....movie magic.
Ghost Riders Gurl wrote: thanks sooooooo much! it made me sooooooo mad that i couldnt remember...i love that movie! why'd you cry though? he doesnt die in the movie....
~ALL HAIL NICOLAS CAGE!!!~
He doesnt die, its true, but when he meets his wife who loved him all the time until he was in prison...
And do you remember the scene when he gives the doll to her daughter with whom he had never met before... and the little girl hide behind her mother - what a disappointing and painful mistrust. Her own girl hide herself from his father's love.
And then, they are crying at each other's shoulder... That is the time when I always cry...
So expressing, and beautiful I think. Do you agree?

This is a great movie - I've seen it many times since it's been out, and recently got the DVD, which features Nic doing audio commentary (which is very rare - he doesn't like to do audio commentary for DVDs because, in his words, it's like a magician giving away his secrets) with Christian Slater, and it's very entertaining to hear them talk about making this movie!
i watched this movie for three times and i like it a lot. the relationship between the two men is subtly ploted at the beginning. it is also about a secret hidden from public for decades. So when it comes out with megastar nicolas cage and renowned director John Woo(here in China we call him Yusen Wu), without question the film could be very fascinating.
And the man costarred nick played very well too. I believe the most touching matter in the world is human's authentic love, caring others, willing to take responsibilities. I am working, and i know this well if someone can be responsible in the office, the person is gonna be respected by all.
Nicolas Cage is one of those people i most respect, i respect his open mind, his authenticity and purity towards acting, his ambition of being an actor from very young and that unbeaten constancy all through these years long. How wondrous the man is!
Hey! I can't believe that you haven't discussed this film of Nic yet! I've just seen it and ...... I think its fantastic! Joe Anders, who wants a serious mission - and he gets it. Taking care of a navaho is a bit childish - he thought in the beginning. But he soon understand that taking care of a friend is far serious.
What suppressed emotions and what misery they have to overcome...
I like it. The scene at night when he's drinking jap sake... he says so disappointedly "I'm a good ****ing marine." When he walks with Jahsee to the japans as a captive... And when he is dying - he is just apologizing over and over again..
I'm under its beauty and truthfullness. I really took right when I watched it.
