We should assume that this is a very rare thing, from him. I do not want him to get all burned, I do not think the height of his professional faded in the last minute.
Aw shucks. Then I sure do hope he lets everyone know when he's going to be so totally incommunacado. Else people will think something horrible has happened to him while all he's doing is sitting in some billowy tent on some deserted island.......
LOL! A hookah lol that made me laff Bon i'm thinking of the scene in Alice in Wonderland.
I'm also thinking deep massage. And just nothing to do. Absolutely nothing to do. Noone to have to speak to or put a suit on for, or do an interview for the millionth time for. Nic does all that so well and I'm sure he enjoys it, and the interviews lately have been full of positivity, humour, and he's looked so relaxed..but the Disney publicity was a world wide marathon ....and the project that they all worked their guts out for, for years and meant so very much, especially to Nic, deserved to do much better. Out in England today by the way!
As for the news story, I have not come across anything since the one I last posted, about his return to 'Trespass' but it is all alleged anyway so whoooo knows!
I'm with you all..priority is that Nic is ok. It makes me breathless just thinking about the upcoming projects before the end of the year .... Although I'm also verrry excited for them all! Ghost Rider 2, National Treasure 3, Trespass, apparently 'reshoots' of Season Of The Witch (read that a couple of weeks ago)....
Nic seems to thrive on his work though, so hopefully he can get a balance, have a great and totally deeply relaxing, refreshing recharging holiday for body mind and soul, and then continue as only he knows how, to bring that mastery to the film world.

LOL! A comfy couch, some wine, a fireplace and the Missus and kids??? Something tells me that's the kind of vacation he is used to going on! LOL!
I'm thinking of something far more exotic. Perhaps a comfy chaise lounge or two set up in a colorful yet billowy tent located in some exotic, far off land. Add a hookah, fine spiced wine, belly dancers (we Nicfans must be useful.....somehow....) and WALA! Instant vacation for Nic! No movies......he's surrounded by those everyday........
OH dear, me thinks I'm getting carried away......... :)
And not the kind of vacation where you go someplace far, far away and spend a lot of money, but the one where you sit in a very comfy chair at home, drink wine and watch half-crappy movies. :)
I really think he just needs to take a break and breathe. I hope he sees that himself too. :)
The man has been on a non-stop, revolving, wild, rollercoaster ride for at least three years now. No one can keep up that kind of pace without it taking some sort of toll on their body, soul and/or psyche.
The pressure he is under must be intense.
My greatest wish is that he can get some serious R&R and that can't be had with only taking off two weeks here and there. Not when the work and the lifestyle demands that he be 'on' 18 hours of each day. I wish the guy could find himself some sort of retreat he can veg out in for a minimum of six months.
I think he is still in. I also think the reports are all over the place with guesses, who knows what really happened. Hope he gets a break of some kind, not healthy to keep going non-stop.
p.s interesting about the alleged switch from the husband to the kidnapper and back.... Because of his range he can play the good guy and the bad guy equally superbly. Having a tough time trying to decide which I'd prefer........

I agree rosypeaches, it really is hard to tell with so much second guessing and speculation going on! But from the looks of the update on this article, he's back!
The publicity for The Sorcerer's Apprentice has been pretty spectacular, nonstop and full on, not to mention all the other projects Nic has been working on, noone could really blame him if he did take a well deserved holiday!
Something that has always been crystal clear about Nic is that he is a total professional, so it seems unlikely he would have just done a midnight flit as the press are trying to portray!

EXCLUSIVE: The Sorcerers Apprentice star Nicolas Cage has pulled a disappearing act on Trespass, the Millennium Films drama that is just two weeks away from an August production start in Louisiana.
Im told that Cage abruptly backed out of the film late last week and then left on vacationapparently to the Bahamas. Will he change his mind? Was he just burnt out after working non-stop and then completing a global junket for Sorcerers Apprentice? Im told nobody can reach him to find out. At the moment, Avi Lerner, who picked up the project after Overture Films dropped it, doesnt know whether or not he has a movie.
Cage had been locked into a $7 million deal--but it was not pay or play yetto costar with Nicole Kidman in the Schumacher-directed drama. She plays half of a married couple taken hostage by thieves looking for an easy payday. Cage at first was going to play the husband, but within the last two weeks he switched and instead decided to play the leader of the kidnappers. Millennium offered the husband role to Liev Schreiber.
While Cage could have a change of heart, Lerner is scrambling to to find an available star with a bag packed and the muscle to justify a $35 million budget. The alternative is to postpone or scrap the project, which would probably lead to a lawsuit.
Cage has been a steady performer for Lerner, starring in Wicker Man, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans and the upcoming Drive Angry. Some feel that Cage may just be burned out from working on so many movies, and being the centerpiece of a long Disney movie launch campaign. He also has had the stress of paying $14 million in back taxes to the IRS, which might explain his prolific work pace.
But there are plenty of people on the production who will have problems of their own if a job they counted on falls through.
It sucks for everybody who was planning to go to work on the picture, said an insider.
