According to interviews the story is meant to be a study into the human spirit under dire circumstances rather than a political statemnet of the events of that day. As many have said we have to wait and see what O Stone does with this story.
Eventually movies will be made dealing with who, why, who to blame. No matter how long they wait there will be people will be offend, angered or hurt by what each point of view they present.
I somehow doubt they will make a statement about terrorism in all countries when looking at the picture...not sure the relevance in that.
As to blaming all Arabs or Muslims...I doubt it would do that because that would be factually inaccurate to say the least...bigoted to be honest.
Mr. Stone has been known to take a left lean in his movies..my wish would be to focus on the human drama and stories and give us a bit of insight to the heroisms of the people who gave their lives doing their jobs trying to save others.
i think it is somewhat sensitive subject . i hope the movie will discuss that terrorism presents at all countries and all religions ... i hope it will not blame all arab or muslim people ... i really hope so
I think it is Great that Nic is doing a movie about 911. My dad has been a cop for 20 years so I think it will be cool to see how he does with the role of a cop. As far as the movie being about 911 it about time they make a movie about it. Please don't think i'm being cold hearted about the people who lost loved ones in the terrorist attack. It is was an historic event in the history of America and a movie is a great way to tell a story about somthing like that.
I would have to say that to answer that question I would need to see the movie to make a judgment on it's worth. Do I think the topic is valid? Of course, it is part of our history and more than valid. Can I place a judgment on it's worth until I see it to see how exploited the people and the event are? No, probably not.
The topic is as valid. I hope the story used to portray it is worthy. I would disagree with you that just because these men are in them, penning them or directing them it will makes for a good movie. I couldn't be farther from Oliver Stones political opinions and many of his movies rub me the wrong way...to say the least. I would venture to say Nic would admit to having a few dog movies in his portfolio as well. So, is the topic valid..yes. Will the movie be as valid--that only time can tell.
I will wait to see it before I make judgement. Suzanne
Hi,
The question isn't if the movie will be good. With Oliver Stone & Nic Cage, it will be very well done. The question that was presented was...Do YOU think the movie should be done at all, as the topic is 9/11.
I do agree however if you look at it it really is about the two officers and I am sure everyone else but they do movies on everything that happens in this world and so why not this one and with Nic in it, I am sure it will be done in good taste. :) Thanks for your reply to this post. Anyone else???
I am not really sure how I feel about it...I know there is A LOT of talk in the news that this film should not get done or it's too soon. I guess there is a lot of questions to be asked like do some of the profits go to the victims/firefighters etc of 9/11..it is their story after all. The diretor is a guy who likes to push buttons like for his film Natural Born Killers. I don't know if the general public is ready to see a film that hits too close to home....ecspecially with all that is going on in the world now. I am sure there will be back lash if or when this film does get done.
I am a Canadian and we are having this dedat here regarding a film. The film is about the two worst serial killers in Canada's history: Paul Bernardo & Karla Homolka. The victims familes are very outraged that this film has been made and there others just outraged that this film was done at all.
My thoughts are..no, I don't think it is a good idea to make a movie on 9/11..not now anyway.
