And on top of that, our favorite Bad Lieutenant is packing his luggage to visit the Toronto Film Festival too! I guess Herzog was right and Nic´s performance is top-notch. It´s been a while since a film of his was admitted to film festivals... Hope he enjoys his moment under the cinematic sun!
More links to the Venice news (juicy trivia: apparently Herzog and Ferrara could exchange nasty looks at the Italian red carpet... this is gonna be fun!)
The 2009 Toronto International Film Festival announced a spate of new films yesterday, including new work from acclaimed filmmakers Werner Herzog, pictured, Michael Moore and Joel and Ethan Coen. Two gala presentations were added to the festival: Dorian Gray, based on the classic novel by Oscar Wilde, and The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, starring Robin Wright Penn, adapted from writer-director Rebecca Miller's novel of the same name. Newly announced special presentations include Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, from director Herzog. The remake/sequel/reimagining of the 1992 crime drama stars Nicolas Cage. Michael Moore brings his new documentary, Capitalism: A Love Story, to the festival, which also added the world premiere of the Coens' new film, A Serious Man. The festival kicks off Sept. 10.
