RE: Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Well........perhaps the majority of the women he gravitates to (or have gravitated towards in the past) are the kind who ARE only interested in men who can give them things............money, prestige, power.....an 'in' into show biz?

God....that would be truly sad, ya know?

i liked the honesty. he shows his dark side fearlessly. i still hold out the hope that he has outgrown the idea that women are only interested in money....

He definitely has a way with words, right? He´s great portraying people/atmospheres/moods.  I´d love to read more written by him...

By mere stream of consciouness, I sudenly remembered that Nic mentioned in his On the Road Again article that he attached special significance to the song below.

I wish I could have been more like that free bird at one point during my younger days. Now I´ll have to wait for my senior age to enjoy my brief moment of freedom out of the cage, carrying a walking stick, LOL!

Hope Nic felt uncaged for a moment there (it´s ironic about his stagename), just as he wished when he was in his late twenties and he wrote that piece.

Here´s the article Nic wrote in 1992 for Details Magazine:
