Gads........it's been so long ago since I've seen this flick I'm having a hard time remembering the scenes you've mentioned.  Time to rent it again, eh?

Today I revisited this nostalgic, bittersweet place in 1940´s California. Features an appealing performance by a very young Nic. He´s adorable in this flick, working on a conflicted character. He and Sean Penn became firm friends during the shooting, they were both rebellious and I guess they had a lot in common.

My fave moments are, when Nic goes to a tattoo parlour (hilarious) and when he sings "Tangerine" using a broomstick as a microphone. Charming.
