RE: Celebrities Like Johnny Depp and Nicholas Cage Own Their Own Caribbean Islands

Funny.............I was just out and about last night with some old friends and we got to talking about Islands.  I said that I love the Virgin Islands, Bahamian Islands and the Hawaiian islands and that I was game for traveling the world island hopping!

Bon Voyage, anyone?

I´m more partial to Mediterranean islands... or even better, the tiny islands in the Venetian Lagoon by the Adriatic sea... But a Bahamas island will do it for me too! (As if I could choose, LOL!)

When celebrities want to escape the spotlight, they dont just go to the Caribbean, they go to their own, private Caribbean island.

Virgin Atlantic Airline owner, Richard Branson, purchased the exclusive 74-acre Necker Island over thirty years ago and has more recently acquired the 120-acre property of Moskito.

Pirates of the Caribbean actor, Johnny Depp, finds seclusion at his Little Halls Pond Cay island, part of the Exuma archipelago in the Bahamas. Depp bought the island in 2004 for $3.6 million. The island is accessible only by plane or boat and includes a lagoon, private harbor and six white sand beaches.

Nicolas Cage became Depps neighbor in 2006 when he purchased Leaf Cay, a 40-acre island, also part of the Exumas. The island sold for $3 million and includes an airstrip and its own desalination plant.

Emmy Award-winning illusionist, David Copperfield, purchased the eleven Bahamian islands called Musha Cay in 2006. Musha Cay has attracted a number of celebrity guests including Oprah Winfrey and John Travolta.

Shakira, Roger Waters and Alejandro Sanz decided to purchase the 700-acre Bonds Cay island as a joint venture. The $16 million property will be transformed into a retreat for art and culture.

Eddie Murphy also purchased his own piece of paradise, Rooseter Cay or Long Cay, for $15 million in 2007.
