RE: just read a post by a hater on Imdb...

I know!   I know!   I'm telling ya..............he could do alot worse than to raise a family and to live in an area like this one.

Hey Nic.......if you're reading this...........there is a huge parcel of land up for sale smack dab on the coast with literally a hundred acres or so.  Some guy bought it with the intention of splitting it into smaller parcels and the people in the area are fighting it tooth and nail.  The area is also only a 15 minute drive from a small airport (big enough for your jet).  And the town is an 'arsty' town as it houses the Chicago Art Institute's summer campus.  The place is full of art galleries and ......sigh......

Whaddya say, eh?

LOL!

Bonnie, this is such a perfect retreat for somebody like Nic! A haven far from the madding crowd, with lots of interesting things to do related to sailing and fishing...

Hey!   Speaking of Merchant Marines and harbor towns and women named Brandy......here are a couple of pictures of the harbor town where the mentioned summer home is at.

I'm telling ya!   Here's another reason why Nic should buy that house!   LOL!

From what we've read, he apparently loves boats and fishing....and it's the perfect place in which to set sail and to fish for salmon and trout.....

Indeed!   And did you notice the reference to 'SPAIN' in the song?   :)

Thanks a lot Bonnie! I love songs about sailors and the sea... After all, I was born in an island and my name means "sea" in Spanish...

Ohkay Mara!

I am finally getting a chance to answer your million dollar question ...."if Nic was an anonymous citizen you met my chance or saw a pic of... would you find him attractive?"

And my answer is an unequivocable...........HELL YES!

There's just something about him that makes my whole being go into high alert.  I find him extremely attractive.

BTW...........I think if he had ended up a merchant marine as you mentioned, he would be exactly as you described him with a ladylove in every port.

Reminds me of that old Looking Glass song......BRANDY

:)

There's a port, on a western bay
And it serves a hundred ships a day
Lonely sailors, pass the time away
And talk about their homes

And there's a girl in this harbor town
And she works layin' whiskey down
They say "Brandy, fetch another round"
She serves them whiskey and wine

The sailors say "Brandy, you're a fine girl" (you're a fine girl)
"What a good wife you would be" (such a fine girl)
"Yeah your eyes could steal a sailor from the sea"

Brandy wears a braided chain
Made of finest silver from the North of Spain
A locket that bears the name
Of the man that Brandy loves

He came on a summer's day
Bringin' gifts from far away
But he made it clear he couldn't stay
No harbor was his home

The sailor said " Brandy, you're a fine girl" (you're a fine girl)
"What a good wife you would be" (such a fine girl)
"But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea"

Yeah, Brandy used to watch his eyes
When he told his sailor stories
She could feel the ocean foam rise
She saw its ragin' glory
But he had always told the truth, lord, he was an honest man
And Brandy does her best to understand

At night when the bars close down
Brandy walks through a silent town
And loves a man who's not around
She still can hear him say

She hears him say " Brandy, you're a fine girl" (you're a fine girl)
"What a good wife you would be" (such a fine girl)
"But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea"

She hears him say " Brandy, you're a fine girl" (you're a fine girl)
"What a good wife you would be" (such a fine girl)
"But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea"

Hi Rosita! Always a pleasure to read you here.

You´re right we should be satisfied with his public persona, but, but, but... (as you say) I think it´s a testament to his magnetic hold that we tend to fantazise about his offscreen personality too, fans and haters alike. That´s what I was referring to when I said he´s made a pact with the devil. He´ll never be free from public speculation. Comes with the territory I guess.

Well, I couldn't resist in answering this question (that perosn on Imdb should be very unhappy if he wastes his time in making such silly considerations). This is an argument we can apply to all the famous people we see on the movies both men and women and on TV in general.
Of course Nicolas is an actor and he plays roles. Let's not forget it. We don't know what's he like in his real life. We only know that he does his job very well, he continually changes roles and he seems to study his characters very much and that's what makes him interesting. He has passion in what he does and he's kind with his fans. I think it would be enough but ..... but ..... but.....
........ he also has a wonderful body, intense eyes, irresistible mouth and a very deep deep voice....... Yes, if I met such a man I'd definetly give him a second look, a third one and a ten thousandth one and I'd dream of him for a long long time........

I like the adventurous life of Nic, the sailor, Mara, but you're right he'd miss the acting itch smile

... that poses an interesting question. It´s listed under the topic "what´s his appeal?"

His argument is, if Nic was not a famous actor, or was not related to a film making family... for instance, if he was  from Toledo, Ohio, and selling insurance policies, and a pic of him was shown on the Internet, most women who think he´s so hot wouldn´t give him a second look.

Sooo... Whaddaya say to that guys? If Nic was not an A-lister on his own right... if he was an anonymous citizen you met my chance or saw a pic of... would you find him attractive? I know I would! His look is mesmerizing, with your without make-up!

I´ve thought many times what would have become of him if he had followed the merchant marine route like he originally intended... (BTW, the sailor bonnet would have looked great on him... but I digress pitifully). I guess he would have had many sweethearts in many coastal cities, and would be that weird, introvert guy who withdraws to his cabin to write short stories while the rest of the crew pass their time playing cards... Maybe he would even be a published author... I think in any event maybe he would have led a happier personal life. No pacts with the devil. No servitude to fame. No lack of privacy. BUT, he would miss something... the acting itch.
