Mara....Interesting take on this movie by both you and the Spanish psychologist!
I absolutely love this movie...........love the characters of Jack really....both of em' because the tycoon Jack DOES show he has a side to him that wants desperately to be 'fed' in a couple of different scenes and the tire salesman Jack allows himself to be vunerable and trusting and wholly loyal to family out of love.
Gawd.....to have the best of both Jacks! Maybe that's where a sequel to this movie could start out???
He'd be a dream man, wouldn't he???

I just found out that a psychologist named Jaime Serrada gave a lecture (rather a talk followed by discussion) about The Family Man in a Spanish university club... I´m not posting the link because it´s in my language and you woulnd´t understand a word.
It´s funny, because this particular talk sounds like it was heavily Catholic, and I´m heavily agnostic, but I happen to agree in one remark the lecturer pointed out in his talk: remember the scene when Kate gets all racy and wants to make love to Jack but when she goes to the bathroom to put her most sexy outfit on he suddenly feels guilty and pretends that he´s asleep when she comes back??? Well, this Spanish psychologist´s opinion is that he cannot make love to her in those conditions because he´s considering her as "something more" than his usual erotic flinges and that he cannot take advantage of her body just like that because to him she´s not a mere object for pleasure but a whole woman, body and soul, and he feels compelled to show some respect for her in that particular occasion... that he somehow feels like he´s cheating her trust (after all he just "reunited" with her in his glimpse, they haven´t become reacquainted yet). And that this tells volumes about Jack, implying that he´s capable of sacrificing his needs for the one woman he loves...
