It is an amazing moment in time when music moves you to such a place.....that is....when the music touches your very soul and you FEEL the music......
I tend to turn into a blubbering idiot when it happens to me.

Lula, if it makes you feel better.... I´m like you! That´s why I renounced to music for some time....makes me emote incontrollably. But the good news is, it´s supposed to be that way, LOL! Music makes people march into battle, cry their eyes out at funerals, dance their butts out at parties... remember Captain Corelli´s speech to Pelagia defending his right to sing on the beach?

I'm one of those ridiculous people who feel deeply emotional around so many kinds of music, I kind of have to avoid some of it if I want to remain functioning..but I'm also unfortunately drawn to the kind of stuff that rips your heart out with its tenderness or darkness or passion...like Mozarts Requiem the Lacrymosa section, and Chopin's piano concertos 1 and 2 (after I listened to them for the first time I remember thinking why would I ever want to listen to any other music ever again because they were powerful beyond belief for me) and my favourite album of all time is Pink Floyd's The Wall. I try to lighten up with the Beatles which is about the only music collection I've got, but even if I think I'm safe with something like Abba for some light hearted relief I end up blubbing over Chiquitita or something... Seriously it is a major problem I remember spending some time with my brother and sister in law I was sitting in the back of the car we were driving to dinner somewhere and he stuck a Mariah Carey c.d on, not my cup of tea, but he liked it, and within about 30 seconds tears pouring down my face mascara everywhere...he's just tapping his fingers on the steering wheel humming along and i'm thinking whats wrong with you, are you numb? And he's thinking, what's wrong with her is she crazy? Lol! or the dentists waiting room where i'm tryin to reduce my nerves and they have the radio on...over sensitivity is a real prob at times, these are not negative emotions just overwhelming ones, something can be so beautiful you can't contain it! But it can work too if you want to use music in a cathartic way...so that's the challenge then to find some neutral music. But if its neutral, do i want it? Nope, it has to make me feel something! So film can be an overwhelming powerful experience with that whole combination of everything going on! Takes me weeks to recover!lol

Oh....I am really loving this thread because I am looking for more music for my IPOD. I am a newbie at this sort of thing. Any recommendations of any kind of music is much appreciated. The peppier the better as I want to start walking miles a day and the peppier the beat, the faster I walk!
Please....seriously.....any particular songs I should try to download???

I denied myself the sacred pleasure of music for a long time, but I´m slowly returning to the fold.
I love all kinds of music too, including folk from all over... but I hate flamenco (I know, I know). I have a soft spot for soundtracks. Went from Mozart to Philip Glass as a teen. Lately I dabble in jazz and blues.
When I´m sad, even a commercial jingle will make me sob. When I want to get my spirits high, salsa is the answer to my prayers. When I´ve got to clean the windows... the Stones usually lend me a little hand.
My tastes are totally eclectic as well. I just downloaded 50 songs onto my new Shuffle and I've put Fogelberg, Louis Armstrong, Tom Waits, The Tubes, Sade, Taylor Dayne, Daughtry, Leann Rimes, Blue October and others to just name a few on it.
I tend to like upbeat music when I have to dig into my housework or something like gardening and I like slow lovesongs when I'm trying for a relaxed mood. I'll also toss on classical music from time to time, especially those that are heavily in piano.
What about you Dr Jenn?

all kinds of music. my taste is ecclectic, to say the least. from rockabilly to jaz to blues to folk music to some selective rap to some selective country, etc. i tend to like the older stuff. music can change my mood, but what affects me the most are the songs which stir my emotions or memories. it is possible to feel 18 again if the right song comes on. or 9 years old if it is josie cotton. bob dylan, the ramones, jerry lee lewis, tom petty, hank williams, sr. erykuh badu, patricia barber, dianna washington, willie nelson, ac/dc, the gourds, the KING, maria mckee, the list goes on and on. today is a patricia barber day :)

maybe this is not the right place, but, guys, what kind of music is the best for U............. what makes you sad, and what makes you happy .from music?
Music moves me in a way like nothing else can. From the first notes of a piece, I can be crying hysterically or happy as a lark. It is an elixir for the soul.

Again, for those of you who have not seen the movie, you´de better wait a bit before hearing this music.... The titles of some tracks could give away part of the plot and ruin it for you.
Thanks to KieferLover for uploading this. The music in some tracks has a contemporary feel to it... I particularly love this track:
