Yep, Nic can put a twist into any movie. That's what is so cool about him!
BTW.....there are times I love "camp" but not when I'm expecting something else.

Personally I think that sci-fi and fantasy films can often veer into 'camp'. But when a movie in this genre is good and makes me 'think', then I enjoy it tremendously.
Well, on this point I agree with you, Bonnie...
I'm a big fan of action films, but if any of them doesn't have some food for thought, I won't like them, either!! (That's why I love those starring Nic, cuz he can act beyond a "pure" action hero...)

Personally I think that sci-fi and fantasy films can often veer into 'camp'. But when a movie in this genre is good and makes me 'think', then I enjoy it tremendously. I think it has to do with how I believe there is so much more out 'there' than the eye can see. If you can get my grey cells excited about that possibility, I'm hooked.
Oh.....and as far as swearing like a sailor. Trust me........when the kids hit the teens, the tongue does a weird thing and has a mind of it's own. I have never sworn so much in my than I have since my kids hit high school......I'm hoping one day I can return to being a lady of decorum in the verbal department.....

there is so much trash out there in these genres (trust me- i read a ridiculous amount), but anything worth it's salt is more plot driven than violent, although that can come into the storyline. if it does, it should be as a necessary part of the plot, a bi-product if you will, not the driving force. as for swearing, from a fantasy aspect, the curse words are usually different. my personal fave is robert jordan on this one. "blood and bloody ashes" is the worst curse his characters use. i myself used to have a relatively clean tongue. when my daughter was born and i had to regulate all the tv, music, road rage, etc. i discovered that when i am not around her i've begun to curse like a sailor. gotta work on that.

Hey silly Randy! Speak your mind dear. Editing is only necessary in the most extreme cases!
And personally speaking I love fantasy films of all kinds and most Sci-Fi stuff. The only films I really don't care for are the gratutious violent and brainless kind. If my stomach is going to lurch at what's on the bigscreen, then no thanks....have at it yourself. I've got better things to do!
I also don't care for gratutious swearing in films. I actually see it as a talentless way for a screenwirter to add shock factor to a film. That's the reason I didn't much like what really was a brilliant film, THE WEATHERMAN. Nic's character un-necessarily used the F word so often that it made me cringe and reminded me of a teenage boy trying to assert his 'stuff'.
Hmmmm.... come to think of it now, maybe that's exactly what the screenwriter and/or Nic was trying to put across by using that obnoxious trait....
hmmmmm.......

Oh... so that means Nic's going to work on more sci-fi or fantasy films?
I hate to say so, but I'm not a lover of the two kinds of films, even if they feature my fav actor... I think there are too many special effects in those movies and they look like computer games, which are far from our real lives. Sorry I'm a fan who prefers something more "real".

okay, i love this. don't want to get edited, so i won't say how much exactly... it would be very interesting to see him do some pure sci-fi or fantasy. i guess i don't consider ghost rider as either genre. i could see the argument for it though. maybe sa will be more along the lines i am thinking of. can't wait! also agree about the john waters. not a big allen fan, though. can you see him in a cry baby sequel? lol!

Thanks Caz...........so many of these blurbs that come out from a press junket are the same-o, same-o. It gets hard to remember if something was posted or not before.

"No discussion -- no deals." - Face/Off Script. "You are what you love, not what loves you." - Adaptation. SAY IT LOUD - I'M A NICAHOLIC AND I'M PROUD XD!!!
Um....I'm not sure but this could be a bit of a repeat....but for some reason I don't think I read the last part of this convo and thought I was having a brain 'bubble'. Anyway....this sounded interesting in one of the interviews he just did....Sorry if it's a repeat.
Oh....and I still say he should do something in the vein of a really weird Woody Allen or John Waters movie...........
The first two National Treasure adventures were among your most successful films. Are you looking forward to a third one, and do you have any idea where the franchise might go?
Cage: Yeah, I'm hopeful. Those movies make a lot of people happy. I don't know yet where it will go or what the story will be, because the auspices are all right here right now, working on The Sorcerer's Apprentice [including producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jon Turteltaub]. There was some talk about it maybe going into the South.
Do you think you'll make it later this year?
Cage: I really don't know. I wish that I did, but I haven't got a clue. That sounds oddly Ben Gates.
Is there any particular genre of film that stretches your acting muscles more than another? And is there a genre you'd like to do that you haven't done?
Cage:Ifeel that I want to keep going in this science fiction and also perhaps fantasy direction for a little while longer, because I think there's some room for growth there in my own abilities, in that I'll be a little more liberated working on that landscape. So I'm happy to be here now. I don't know of any other genres that I'm interested in. I like dramas, as you know. Comedies not so much, only because I don't find the same things funny that many other people seem to find funny. I don't really respond to sex jokes and things like that, and some of my friends look at me and go, "Come on, Nic, that was my best joke. Why aren't you laughing?" I go, "I really don't know why I'm not laughing." I'm sort of out of sync with it. So I'd have to find something that was really about weird human behavior for me to laugh.
