LOL...........I don't remember ever seeing this Leno show. I do remember that for Christmas vacation 2000, I went to Aspen Colorado for skiing. I only got to ski one day cuz I was stuck in the room sicker than a dog....
Anywhoo.....the thing is that watching this Leno clip makes me think I have something in common with Nic's father.......in this clip it talks about how Nic buried Pinochio's head and next thing....WALA....Magic happened for a four year old (because of his dad trying to keep the magic of childhood alive for Nic).
Well, believe it or not but I did a very similar thing when my son was about four years old....way back in 94'. Once a month the women in my family would get together for a "Ladies Night Out" where we would take turns going to each others house. There were 12 of us in the group so each woman would host one party a year and she would get to choose a game or activity for the group and she would serve appetizers, drinks and desserts. Just a way for the women in the family to get out one night a month, right?
So anyway.....the story......On a Friday, my son had been playing at a neighbors house and the neighbor girl child had been given some toy magic 'rocks'....where you put a little rock in water and it 'blossom's into a bigger, more beautiful rock. My son came home from witnessing this miracle (remember 4 years old) and told me all about it.
Being that I was the type of mother who took her kids outside in the rain to play in puddles, I came up with the brilliant idea that he should go outside and find the perfect rock and he could then put it in the bathroom sink overnight to see what happened. He was estatic at the idea and did as I suggested.
Well....of course....I didn't have the toy rocks in the house but hey... this MOM sure could come up with a magical replacement idea, right?
After he fell asleep I went into my hobbie box and found one of those sparkling, colorful, crystals that kids glue onto projects to decorate things with and I switched the rock from the yard for the hobbie 'crystal'.
The next morning, he of course, ran to the sink and found his very own MAGIC ROCK! OMG.....he was so excited!
Well, that Saturday night was Ladies Night Out night so his father was given the honor of watching him and his baby sister while I got out for my one night out a month. Not an hour after I got to my sister's house, did I get a frantic call from my husband yelling at me to get home as soon as possible cuz our son was gushing out blood from his nose cuz "Dammit! Bonnie! He stuck his MAGIC ROCK up his NOSE!" LOL!
I ran home and sure enough, blood was everywhere. I immediately took him to the primary care emergency center. The Dr heard what happened and his first instinct was to approach my four year old with a blaring light and a HUGE tweezer that he was going to stick up his nose to get the 'crystal' out of his nose. My son, of course, saw that damn tweezer coming straight at his face and went hysterical! Oh gads....what now?
Finally the Dr looked like he had a brilliant idea and he held one finger against the one nostril without the magic rock in it and then simply told my son to 'BLOW'.........lo and behold the magic rock came flying out with a good nose blow! LOL! And for this I had to pay over $100. Emergency care for magic rocks stuck in noses don't come cheap ya know!
Anyhoooo........I was always coming up with brilliant ideas like that......I guess I have something in common with Nic's dad, eh? It's amazing my kids survived their childhood with a mom like me!
Hope this story didn't bore anyone.......

That an oldie but goodie... Around Christmas 2000 if I recall correctly. Nic was making the rounds to promote FM while filming Windtalkers. He´s got a sense of humor in this clip. Thanks to Snowal67 for uploading it!
