Yeah that particular scene (the goodbye from the New Jersey Jack to Kate) always gets me. Parting ways is a bit like dying, as the saying goes in my language... Fortunately we´re left with the hope that Jack and Kate at least get reacquainted at the end of the movie.
We're glad you are enjoying being on this forum Jenny. We try to be a friendly bunch and people are welcome to bring up most any topic as long as its respectful to both Nic Cage and other members.
BTW.....the scene you chose is an excellent one. Truly meaningful!

first I m happy that you red my message, cause this mean that this board is really active, what is surprise for my. In my country such boards usually fails to find the appropriate readers.
second Ilia - the message for U - I do not think this is the movie about the family problems, but about the great, insuperable and beautiful power of love and strong relationships between the people. But actually, you are so young, so U will have a chance to recognized it.
third my fav scene from the movie is when Jack recognized thet this clip of his life has to be finished and he asked his wife Kate to remember him, and she said I promisse, he asked her, promisse me again ..... and then he does not want to go asleep to stay here, in this clip with her and their kids.....perfect acting, freezing feliing
Such an interesting topic Jenny. I guess, since Nic is an artist, his values must be a bit unconventional... but I guess we will never know for sure! He seems to be a wonderful father though, and that means something he´s got his heart in the right place...
I agree with you!Is great film, about problem in family which can be in every family.Wounderfull, wounderfull,I can't say more!and very good final of film!

Is it power, fame, control, status, money, houses, yachts, cars, keeping up with the 'Jones', career, art, or is it family and the people and relationships in his life?
I suppose only he can answer that for himself. Just like any of us, ya know?
BTW.....Family Man is one of my favorite movies as well. There are four scenes in that movie that stay with me...
The first when Jack is trying to get Kate to move to New York.....so they can prove to the world they 'made' it and Kate tells Jack that people are already jealous of what they have. She has the 'right values' as you put it.
The second is when Jack is watching the video of himself singing LA LA LA MEANS I LOVE YOU to Kate at her bday party. The look on Nic's face looks utterly real. Great acting.
The third is when we watch the scene he is watching....where Jack is singing to Kate and there are balloons all around and you can see that the love between them is palatable. You can almost feel that love, ya know? Again....great acting.
And then finally.....when Jack takes Kate to NYC and he finally realizes that he's loved her all along.....all those years. The look on his face......God.....
Ahhhhh........to live in a movie fantasy like that......WOW.............
Anyhooo....again, Great question!

in spite of great moneymaking movies like Ghost Rider, or National Treasure 1, 2, I would like to tell you about the movie that impressed me so much. It is a Family man movie from 2000 yr. In this movie Jack Campbel recognised what is the right value. Family, love, kids, healthy relationships. No money, no luxury, but just the something fragile that is completely yours. I know what I am talkikng about. Cause I got it. I have husband, two kids, good job, and I realized that my life is wonderful also thanks to this movie. Whati is the right value in the NICs life?
I do not wait for your answers, I am just from the oposite half of world and I am going to bed now. Good night.
