RE: Mirrors..........

Yeah Monday mornings are tough but... fortunately the week moves along, LOL!

Many people didn´t like NEXT´s final twist. I did, open endings are very stimulating in my book. And I agree Jenny, the casino scenes were very creatively choreographed!

Hello, mirrors again,

In the movie NEXT, just in the beggining of the movie NIC as the Cris Johns alias Fank Cadillac was chased by the cops in the casino, then he turned to the toiled, just for a moment looked at himself in the mirror, then he took a hat of another man there and escaped from the casino.  Brilant scenes. But I was surprised by the "end" of the NEXT movie, mean it, that this scenario was something like still open?

Have a NICe day and also wish you have a NICe week. Cause monday morning are sometimes difficult to start.

Great examples Mara!   Keep em' coming!  I think you'll be surprised by how many times mirrors or reflections are used in Nic's movies.

I remember now. In Bringing Out the Dead he looks himself in Mary´s bathroom mirror when he´s washing his hands "with 3 different kinds of soap, each smelling like a different season". And he feels like he´s "perhaps turned a corner" after that... A little cathartic moment in the movie.

That one is on my top fave performances of his BTW. Talk about organic acting.

If I recall correctly, he´s looking into a mirror in the bathroom scene in Valley Girl when he´s gone to his hangout to try and forget about his breakup with Julie... and is... well, getting heavily reacquainted with a former flame.... They are kissing in front of a toilet mirror while people who came in to use to loo have to leave for obvious reasons... They get really sexy and... there´s little else to comment on that regard, LOL!

I´ll try and remember another more meaningful mirror scene.

Sorry,
I forgot to answer the mirror question. I saw Nic looking at himself imirror figure in the Ghost Rider movie, and what he saw was the blaze of his body. He was seriously affraid of this blaze, as well as, of being the ghost rider. And he was too.... young in this movie and in the mirror pic to.

Hi,

I saw Adaptation yesterday night for the first time. I agree with you. But I think this could be difficult sometimes for NIC to be Charlie/Donald in this movie, rigth? Does anybody know the NIC feeling about this doubled character?confused

yes, Lula.....that's the idea!   And the question...doesn't have to only be a mirror....but where Nic is looking at a reflection of himself somehow.....

I don't want to say how many movies I've noticed this in since I'm hoping other people will join into the guessing but what got me thinking about it recently was when I was watching ADAPTATION this week (still haven't finished it) and I realized that even in that movie Nic sees his reflection while looking out the window and saying something to the effect that he (Charlie) and Donald share the same DNA and isn't that the lonliest thing of all?

Nice topic Warped Woman. The first Nic movies that flick into my mind are Vampires Kiss and Face Off. Don't think this is the answer to your question though...wink.gif

Insightful poem... I have been practicing a different kind of mirror work lately, one where you look at the criticisms you make of others, and notice where those traits are reflected inside yourself...great tools for compassion and forgiveness. smile.gif

Has anyone here ever noticed how many Nic movies there are that show him looking into a mirror at himself?

Can anyone name a movie that features this tendency AND tell us what you see in the 'moment'?

BTW.....here is a poem about Mirrors and Illusions.....Enjoy!

In The Mirror, A Prayer
by KMBowman

Look in the mirror, and what do you see?
Take up a pen, starting wherever you like.
The aesthetic experience is a simple beholding
Where flashes of creativity
Are appropriate here.

You are your mirror
This is what we die for
Not as helpless victims of hopeless situations,
For no one is a victim.
Practice this for a moment, in this world without end.

Amen.

The imagery of mythology renders with humor
Find and eliminate fear and loathing
This will be useful to your goals.
We all live a life with purpose, for
Life without purpose is life for all the wrong reasons.

Take up a pen, not only in work, but
Also in love, and write the dedication for your life
Close one eye and observe the angle
In your mind's eye, what can you see?
With one eye in the mirror, your work is true.

Amen.
