I agree Tracy! The man is Sexy as hell....no matter what.
As fans....the thing is....we need to realize that Nicolas 'CAGE' is an ILLUSION. He is a fabricated commodity, so to speak. What we see...on screen and even in interviews and such is a carefully orchestrated persona. Nicolas Cage is NOT Nicolas Coppola.
Nicolas Coppola......? Well.....only a few near and dear trusted friends get to know him. Hopefully he is the honorable, kind, loving, generous man we perceive him to be.....right???
Anyhooo.....I am off to bed to well.....give my own.....honorable, kind, loving and generous man.....a huge smackeroo!
Night now!!!

Well... It's sort of our business... I mean the people who pay $9-$12 bucks a pop to see him on the big screen? No one wants to see a tired, worn out guy on screen unless the script calls for it. That's the only danger in not caring what people think of your personal appearance - especially if it's the paying public that indirectly creates your paychecks - though that's just my opinion... Despite it all... I've gotta say it... He's still SEXY AS HELL!!!
All I can say Tracy.....is that he looks haggard these days. I'm always saying on the forum that the guy simply works too damn much and isn't doing what ever it is that needs to be done to get healthy again. But, again....that is his business, right? We're simply fans who see him from our point of view.

Definitely too skinny... but I don't think his frail appearance has anything to do with the roles he's playing. I mean Oliver Stone actually wanted him to gain weight for the role in World Trade Center because the man he was portraying is a very thick guy but Cage said he was no longer physically altering his appearance for a movie role - i.e. gaining weight or shaving his chest hair - YIKES! He's either purposely looking frail or unpurposely looking frail. What do you think?
Well....personally Tracy..........I don't like what I see of the new Nic either. He has changed dramatically over the past 7 or 8 years.
If you look at him in pictures from back then....say at the Family Man premiere (2000).....and then look at pics of him from say...2003.....and then on to 2005 and on to now.....well.....the man has seriously changed. And, he is too skinny for my taste. ( I like men who look like they can wrestle me into submission....lol)
Men his age.....well.....face it......if they are happy and healthy.....shouldn't have the body of a 16 yr old whose metabolism is running so rampant that they can't eat enough to keep on weight.
It really does bother me that he looks so haggard. He looks like he is becoming old before his time. But who am I to talk? Right???
Anyhooo....to give the guy a break........maybe he thinks a young wife wants a guy that looks like that. Who knows really?
And....like you said.....I also believe (from reading interviews and such) that Nic has lost that 'zest' that so intrigued people. Perhaps he really does see himself in some sort of 'light' that only he can see.
Whatever it is.....I sincerely hope that he does whatever it takes to get back to the man who was and still is.....so beloved to so many of us.

I hear you Warped Woman... When I worked on World Trade Center as a background actor, The talk on the set was how terribly skinny Nic looked and, "Nic takes himself way to seriously these days." I sort of get it... If you look at past interviews Nic would joke and have fun with interviews but lately he's very serious... almost too serious... Only ask and answer the obvious questions... Don't stray... At least that's what I overheard a PA say on the set that day we were filming. Whether this is true or not... the jury's still out but I know for a fact reporters ask very invasive and hurtful questions about Alice and he's VERY sensitive and protective about that subject so he has to be very careful how he approaches things now. I mean he's said he doesn't get why people still relate him to words like weird, strange or even eccentric... He says he thinks he understands because of some of the stuff he's done when he was much younger and when fame really meant something to him but it appears as though Nic has grown out of alot of things and maybe people still want to see the some ole quirky Cage...The Cage they loved back in the day so when they don't - that pisses people off... I think that Cage is long gone and he has moved on... For better or for worse... Who knows ?
Personally, Tracy.....I think too many media types and people in general, have jumped on the "Lets hate on Nic Cage" bandwagon for far too long. Makes ya wonder just why the guy garners such negativity tho, doesn't it?
I mean.....what is it about Nic that really irks people (perfect strangers really) to constantly feel the need to demean the guy and all he stands for?
Even if someone knows Nic personally and he's gone and done something to piss them off.....why the constant need to throw such daggers and negativity in his direction?
Karma is Karma and it works both ways....

I think too many people especially media types have jumped on the band wagon regarding Nic's hair. I can think of a dozen actors whose hair have been absolutely ridiculous in movies - Hello Tom Hanks! I think each hair is unique to the character he's playing. I say this all the time... IT'S A CHARACTER!!! It's not real life people!!! Here's the rub... Nic gets it!
I really canīt wait for the day he shaves his head! I love baldies, LOL.
I'm with you, Mara!!
I'm not a baldicoot lover until I knew Nic, and, actually, he's the only one I can accept, LOL!!
BTW, just as Bonnie says, "Truth is....I'll take Nic any which way. There's just something about the man that gets under the skin, right?" I can't add more to that!!
BTW....I'm with you. To me, Nic was at his most scrumptious back in the Family Man/CCM/Adaptation/MM days.
Of course, actors need to keep reinventing themselves, their looks and such in order to keep growing in the craft....so we shouldn't be too set in our ways, eh?
Truth is....I'll take Nic any which way. There's just something about the man that gets under the skin, right? LOL!

Hmm... I guess the more people critize his hair, the more heīs gonna do whatever pleases his fancy with it... if he likes to change it from one movie to the next to help give some novelty to his image, so be it.
But we can be entitled to our own opinions here (thatīs why itīs a forum, LOL), so... I really canīt wait for the day he shaves his head! I love baldies, LOL.
