RE: Wild at Heart Review

Wow Rumble, the dedication was a nice touch... THANKS!!

I really liked your review. I think you nail it in so many ways... My favorite line is about the side characters, "a grocery store list of every parent´s nightmare"... You´re talented!!

I really have a thing for Sailor... I would have loved to see the rest of Barry Gifford´s stories about him and Lula and Perdita Durango filmed too, but... I guess it wasn´t to be. (Well, Rosie Perez was Perdita in a movie with an unrecognizable Javier Bardem, but... I like Isabella Rosellini better, LOL!)

Wow.........Dear Rumbling Ron!

We're honored that you dedicated your review to us......the Fiercest Nic Cage fans around!  :)

And what a review it is!   I tell ya.......my head is spinning and I feel like I've just taken that wild ride with Sailor and Lula myself.   I'm thinking I need to see if I have an old copy of this movie laying around and perhaps treat myself to a really weird yet wonderful day today watching this utterly surreal flick.

Anybody have a snakeskin jacket I can wrap myself up in while I do?   :)

Thanks again Ron!

Oh Rumble rumble rumble....

THANKYOU!

You have floored me with this review. I'm almost speechless! It's so complete and contains every element that I find so magnetic about this magical, alluring disturbing, richly textured film.
I told my parents once, as they browsed through my then vhs collection, "you won't like that film.""why?" they inquired. And I struggled to put my finger on it. Your review has nailed it!
"er, well... it's quite ...dark... and powerful...a bit trippy..."
"but it's a love story, we love love stories!"
"ok then...."
They didn't like it.
It is not a comfortable or easy film, in any sense. But I LOVE it!

The only thing I disagree with is in Hansel and Gretel (how funny you should bring that up, I reread it on Sunday, now there's a dark magical story) they did not find their way back with the crumbs. I thought that too, but the first time it was pebbles, the second time the crumbs were eaten by birds which is how they ended up getting lost and finding the house of the witch made of sweets.
That was a bit random of me sorry about that. Just such synchronicity I had to mention it!

Hey, I have my excuses for being a bit crazy, I'm doing my bit by keeping the spirit of Lula alive!biggrin.gif

I often wonder what Lula and Sailor would be doing now...what a sequel that would be!biggrin.gif
