That's a great way of putting it Mara, he is acting with his back! I do find Nic to be such an expressive and kinetic actor, his dedication permeates every level of the character!

To me his body says he is defeated, exhausted, wary and very vunerable.
I also think he's holding something back from her because his hands are in his pockets. He's afraid to touch her or get closer to her yet he most definitely wants to because.....
His head is leaning towards her so a part of him wants to get closer to her.
