Yeah I agree: I too like movies with much more "meat" in them... But you know how it is, Hollywood plays it safe with sequels, they end up being more of the same.

Hope you like VK!

OK, I will search for Vampire's Kiss, you made such an advertising for this movie I can't withstand hehe
Just to add something to the initial topic of this thread -  I really hope that NT 3 will be a big success too, but i would like another kind of movies with a little bit more action/suspense on them biggrin

Red Rock West is one of my faves, Lalleen! Yeah Nis is at his acting best when he confronts characters that are misfits and loosers... but somehow keep their dignity intact, despite the circumstances. Like poor Michael.

He excelled in Matchstick Men too... Nobody plays the weirdo with a heart of gold like Nic.

Do you know what I also love? When he´s playing villains. He manages to make us root for them, no matter if they´re wicked bad... Like in Bangkok Dangerous. Hope you like it...

Hey, if you like twisted you absolutely must see Vampire´s Kiss... He shot that in the late eighties. Maybe you can catch it on a rerun on TV. Nic´s talent is pure genius in that one... he combines twisted comedy, sad tale with a moral, psychological protrait of a demented loner, and freakish horror story... all in one movie.

Such diversity... our man does all, left and right, doesn´t he?

I  have not seen many of his movies. I think most of his films I have watched are those shot after that drink-to-death movie.
But what I really like in movies is the twisted storyline like in Matchstick men/ Red Rock west or the pure action in The Rock/Con air.(That is why I  want to watch BD i am really keen on such kind of movies) .  And NT is really a family movie - it doesn't contain anything that is not proper for a 10-year-old's mind. And my problem is that I am much older cry

I watched the first movie to the end but I left the second one somewhere at the middle. Just forwarded it to to see if he gets the girl at the end. smile

And if there is a third episode I will watch it of course but what should be different? Maybe something like in The Mummy. They have a kid that messes things up and they go to save the kid and the day. Or much worse something like Indiana Jones 4-  some aliens take part too. ROFL

Nice talking to you Lallen, and welcome to the forum. Your point of view is very interesting. I see what you mean, his acting talent sometimes goes to unlikely places, right? That´s part of his charm, the unpredictability.

Well the NT flicks were mainstream Disney fare "for all the family", and I went to see them with that frame of mind. It´s no Shakespeare mind you, but I enjoyed the ride all the same... I loved the ingenious history bits intertwained with the silly intrigue. I´ve got to say I liked NT1 much better though. Ben Gates is a lovable pedantic nerdy IMO, but I understand what you´re saying. He´s like the most unlikely hero, right?

I´d say Nic was behaving in an extremely childish manner in, for instance, Trapped in Paradise. Have you see that one? He was kinda goofy in it... and I love it too, in a childish sort of way... This movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. Having said that, Nic himself wasn´t satisfied at all with how the script was being developed while filming in Canada... only positive note was that his agent sent him the script for Leaving Las Vegas during the shooting with the words "Here´s the answer to your prayers"... and he calmed down and finished it. It was the coldest winter in decades in Canada. And it´s very difficult to act a script you loathe when you´re cold. But he´s the consumate professional.

LOL!   So....Ben from National Treasure isn't your cup of tea, eh Laleen?

I enjoyed the films for what they are......light, family entertainment.  But, I would rather see Nic bring out his quirky side in films!

I can't believe..... LOL ... this is maybe the only movie /both episodes/ with Nic that is really childish and cry.gif I would say stupid doh.gif and they are the most successful movies of him. It is lighthearted and sometimes makes you laugh but i couldn't stand to watch them both. And now episode 3 .....
