Nicolas Cage has told MTV News that Matthew Vaughns big-screen adaptation of Kick-Ass, the controversial comic book by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., will have a different style than its print counterpart when it comes to the series much-discussed violence.
When I said yes to this movie, it was to a script, explained Cage. Then I started seeing the comics which are pretty far out in terms of violence. But I think Matthew and the script have a different style to it.
Im not fond of gratuitous violence, said Cage, who will play the role of a retired cop determined to take down a druglord. Cage was attached to the film early last month, and remains one of the most high-profile names associated with the film. As we reported last month, Chloe Moretz will play the obscenity-spewing, sword-wielding daughter of Cages character.
So how will the violence of the Kick-Ass comics translate to the screen? According to Cage, there will be some moments of action that will be violent, but there will be a sense of elegance to it.
[Matthew Vaughn] doesnt want to get gratuitous with it, said Cage, who added, At least thats what Matthew has told me.
