Nic has been known to own ALOT of exotic pets so this story rings true. How to find out if he still own Buck is going to be difficult for you to find out. Good luck.

About 12 or 13 years ago, I used to own an asian water monitor lizard named, "Duck", don't ask. I kept him in a 16 sq. ft. environment inside my science classroom until he finally outgrew it. At roughly 6 ft. from head to tail, I could no longer provide Duck with a good quality of lizard life so I donated him to the East Bay Vivarium in Berkeley. CA, who later informed me that they had just sold it to Nicolas Cage!
My question of course is did Nicolas Cage indeed become Duck's new owner.. I hope so, and if so, can I get an update? I'd appreciate any responses pertaining to my old pet. Thanks!
