Nicolas Cage has signed on to star in the thriller "Knowing," from director Alex Proyas.
The "Crow" and "Dark City" helmer will begin shooting "Knowing" in mid-March in his native Australia.
According to Variety, the plot focuses on a teacher (cage), whose school unearths a time capsule. When some of the predictions in the capsule appear to have come true, he becomes rather uncomfortable with another of the prophesies -- the end of the world is coming. And who can blame him?
In true Hollywood style, the script was first written by novelist Ryne Pearson, was rewritten by Stiles White and Juliet Snowden and will be rewritten again by Proyas and Stuart Hazeldine before production begins.
Last seen in "Next" and "Ghost Rider" and bracing for the release of "National Treasure: Book of Secrets," Cage has circled a number of upcoming projects. He was attached to Darren Aronofsky's "The Wrestler" and exited for "The Vanished" from "Paradise Now" director Hany Abu-Assad. He's already completed work on a remake of "Bangkok Dangerous."
